    Default Voice Chat

I like to suggest a vital improvement to the built-in voice chat feature: Individual volume control for each of your party members.

In my experience, most people come through very quiet even after they turn on mic boost. I can circumvent this by turning all of the game-related audio to 0.10 or so, then turning up my speakers so I can hear them over the clangs and crunches of sword against skull. Of course, this doesn't work if someone else in the party does have adequate volume.

Please, add a volume tool-tip to the party right click menu, and give us plenty of leeway to raise them well above the game volume if necessary. I'd rather hear them with some clipping than not hear the rogue say "Trap" at all!

Also, is there a way of selecting a "Push to talk" button? I would like to see something like that implemented.

You have only to navigate to the Keymap tab of the Options menu and behold! Key Bindage!!

Considering your join date, I really hope this is sarcasm.

No not sarcasm....I havent played for more than 2 yrs and to be honest, back then I dont remember using voice chat that much (I never got to any raids).

And I actually created the account back in beta, but due to RL I wasnt able to do too much beta testing.

But I thank you for your input.

Yes, it's very annoying to turn voice volume up to max and all other game volumes to 0.03, turn the speakers to 75% or higher (and these are LOUD speakers for something so small), turn computer volume controls to max and still only be able to hear people at normal conversational volume. That's an improvement over before where I did all that and could still barely hear people and very often they would come through stuttering so badly I couldn't understand them anyways but it's still not acceptable to have to overcompensate that much. And then I get someone that does come through normally except now they're very loud because the volume is maximized. And by 'very loud' I mean 'holy ****, I need to turn this down before someone calls the cops on me for disturbing the peace'. Then I get a normal volume guy and one of the quiet ones in the same group. That's just painful.

    Seconded!

Also, and along the same lines, the ability to voice-mute someone. Like, say, my wife and vice-versa. So I don't have to hear my voice coming out of her speakers .25s after I speak it...

    One word... Headphones.

Also works great for those people who don't use P2T and everytime someone in the group talks you get an echo.

These controls exist, unfortunately they are in the hands of less caring people on their own computer. I think the reason we have issues is that some people helpfully set their Mic volume all the way up in Windows and in DDO and others leave it all the way down in one, the other, or both. Heck some probably have their mic set on "mute" in the Windows settings. This means one person is blasting our ears out and the other a whisper we strain to hear.

So hear me now... everyone set your volumes all the way up on Mics in every location you can find the option. Oh, and turn on Mic Boost.

There's definitely more going on here than people not setting up their mic volume correctly in windows. With mine maxed out and mic boost on, most people can only barely hear me unless they too put all the game sounds down to 0.10 or so then turn up their speakers. I've grouped with plenty of people who have had the same experience as I.

    Default huh>?

If it's a raid you're in hopefully someone has a Vent server.

I actually like that the volume is messed up. In most groups I don't want to listen to people who can't type anyhow. You know who I mean. That's right.

I did all the .3 down and 74% up and yada yada, and wound up listening to some kid preaching about how good his build was to some other kid for half of Tangleroot.

Playing this game in silent is fun too. Pretend you have Deafness cast on you.

**** , EDIT : I forgot to mention. It's all in how far away peoples mics are. Yah sounds silly , usually half the problem though.
