    Default Need Guidance

I created this character when the game first started and I had no understanding of how the game mechanincs worked. These were my starting stats for a 28 point build:

    Human Paladin

    Str: 15
    Dex: 12
    Con: 14
    Int: 8
    Wis: 12
    Chr: 15

Now I have began playing again and was wondering how I could guide my character from this point forward:

    Human Paladin Level 5.2

Str: 18 (+2 item, +1 from DDO cake producing genie for being an existing old charcter I guess)
    Con: 16 (+2 item)
    Dex: 12
    Int: 8
    Wis:13 (+1 item)
    Chr: 20 (+1 enhancement, +1 at 4th level, +1 tome, +2 item)

    Feats:
    level 1 (toughness)
level 1 (luck of heroes) which I now know I need to switch
    level 3 (WF slashing)

    Enchancement:
    Human Adaptability: charisma
    Human Improved Recovery I
    Aura of Good: Saves
    Aura of Good: Armor
    Extra Lay on Hands I
    Extra Smite I
    Racial Toughness I
    Paladin Devotion I
Paladin Energy of the Templar I
    Paladin Charisma I
    Paladin Toughness I
    Paladin Toughness II
    Divine Might I
    Improved Turning I

It is worth noting that I have little time to play as I work a lot and would like to salvage this character if I could without rerolling. My highest charcter ever is level 6

I am a sword and board type player so far and wanted to stick with that. However to Max my AC I will not be able to take Combat Expertise due to my low Int. Dodge is easily attainable.

I solo a lot but would like to start joining groups later in mid game. I have soloed everything so far with him on normal easily (waterworks, Shan to Kor (sp?), and Tangleroot). However I get the feeling that I will not be able to continue that for much longer.

Where should I go from here? What direction will make this guy useful later on? Do I have to go THF (I have a fighter for that) or will one or more of the prestige classes help me stay S&B and still be useful to groups. I can not find any organized helpful information on prestige classes to help plan ahead. Please help. Thanks in advance!

You're guy looks pretty good to me - I think your CHA is higher than most and you might want more constitution. If you don't have one, I would recommend getting a greatsword to go along with the sword & board - seems to me that 2H got a nice boost recently from all the changes (especially the speed changes.)

You should have a +12 or so to-hit and an AC of 25-30 I'm guessing? That's pretty effective at level 5.

You lack the dexterity to two weapon fight and the intelligence for combat expertise but you could either do a two handed chalice build or a respectable pure siberys build fairly easily .. be warned the 2nd is more gear-intensive however.

In the short term, be a Siberys .. all paladins are best off with sword, shield and as much ac as is available until level 8-9

where do I learn about Siberys? and the other prestige classes? Is there an official place to read about them within the game, or on the forums? I hear everyone talk about them, I just cant find where to read about them so I can plan my character.

Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

When I am sword and board I have an AC of 28 and I have 3- DR from Adamantine Plate. I am soloing things easily with this setup but I know this wont last, that is why I am trying to plan now before I go to far down a wrong path or gimp my character blindly.

    Thanks!

go into your enhancements and check show unavailable, you can see everything available to paladins, including prestige lines and their benefits and requirements

    Thanks...I hadn't seen that option.

That should help me a lot.
