    Default A New Invasion

What in the heck is up with this quest? I went into this thing once with a straight PUG (easy peasy till last fight then disaster), and once with a Good PUG with people who have a clue and good gear. Finally got it done after three party wipes (one do to the latest addition to my DNP list: the loot during a fight, drop down the hole early even though told in voice and party chat to wait guy), and a couple people switching characters and a lot of luck/resources at the end. This quest's final fight is absolutely, stupidly, entirely too difficult on normal. I was told that a change was made with the hotfix by someone in the group to cause this, not sure if this is true or not, but I know you will not see me in a straight pug in there again.

Did I miss an easy button along the way or something? Other quests out there aren't this hard on hard (only done a couple on elite so I withhold judgement there).

The two changes were the red forcefield in the center of the room and that Barnzidu has Fast Healing now (I verified it is about 50 HP per 2 seconds on normal, unsure on other difficulties).

Keep the group together, going slowly around the perimeter in the same direction. The unevadable traps that curse you are time-delayed from when someone steps on one of the outside segments; never stay on one for more than a few seconds. Absolutely do not have people running around everywhere because you will have traps going off everywhere.

If you keep everyone together moving as a group slowly around the outside while fighting the guy, you should never even get hit by a curse/unavoidable damage trap.

the above covers pretty much the whole concept. make sure everyone got remove curse pots, and get DW and Neutralize Poison, fire and electric resist.

for a whole team of casters and ranging toons, it should be easily. you just move backward in same direction and stay in the same segment and keep shooting the boss.

for melees, it's slightly more complex. you need to fight the boss for an interval, and then all move to another segment and wait for the boss to come and fight again, and keep repeating this process.

In addition, once you figure out who is holding agro, everyone group on him when you move to the next tile. Boss will tele to the agro holder and you can maximize dps on him before you have to move again. Do not run around like crazy.

THis quest is a train wreck for pugs. I think the delay needs to be bumped up a bit for Normal and the trap damage reduced a bit. A Solid group can get through it pretty easy, but in a pug.. whenyou say "Move Clockwise" and hafl your group goes Counter clockwise, ya just wanna throw your keyboard out the window.

Yet again, I had to switrch to my cleric last night. Just to get it done....

I haven't combed my combat log but I've ransacked that quest pretty often -- I gotta say I have a hard time believing that the curse/blast damage isn't subject to a save/evasion check.

The floaty "save" text pops over my head often, and while that could be from multiple other sources (enemy spells, the lightning, etc) it seems I end up cursed a lot less on evasion toons. I'll be sure to check my log next time.

Other changes they made last patch: Releasing the prisoners unlocks the last chest now and the Blistering Gale has a tendency to disappear for no apparant reason.

Prisoner chest hasnt changed. It was unlocked the very first time we did the optional...

You can still Pick/Knock it too though....

    QFT.
Hopefully as more and more folks get seasoned/practiced with this it will get more pug friendly but for now at least, a 1.0 or 1.5 second increase in the delay might be nice for normal--especially as some folks may experience delays in voice chat commands/server client interface issues, you know, the same sorts of things that made the Abbot tile maze extremely difficult at first way back when.

Then it was buggy like the Bastion chest, because it never unlocked for me with the optional done, pre-patch. Now it's unlocked everytime. It could still be bugged I suppose, and I am now just riding the positive side.

It can be wand knocked as well...
