Default Peta Flashpin's Temperature "Riddle" is misleading

I just got my nerves red hot, since the developers have left two completely viable, logical choices in the temperature riddle (which you get once you "buy" a Rest of Eladrin from her).

She gives you three numbers, and you need to figure out the fourth. In one scenario she gives the numbers 8, 12, and 18. The choices are: 18, 22, 39, 27, 26.

What's your correct answer? I guessed 26, because it would follow a logical pattern (8+4=12, 12+6=18, 18+8=26). However there's another logical pattern... multiply each result with 1.5, which results in 27.

I know the reward is a meager item which you'll going to sell outright, but I still find it annoying to give such riddles where you actually have multiple correct answers. A total of 4 people first answered 26, because it would follow a logical pattern. They did identify the other (27) pattern as well.

I humbly ask the devs to fix this minor, yet frustrating issue. I for one lost my appetite.

If you follow a pattern like that, then it could have been 22 as well.

In other words the devs wrote a VERY bad riddle. No riddle that matters should have multiple equally possible answers.

Truthfully to me, it could be multiple answers other than 26 depending on where you start the pattern - the numbers are 8, 12 and 18.

    0 + 8 = 8; 8 + 4(8/2) = 12; 12 + 6 = 18; 18 + 8 = 26 or 18 + 3(6/2) = 21 or .........

all depends on what pattern your mind sees and how far you break it down

The point of those riddles is not to make up numbers that could come before or after the given numbers. If you do it that way, any result could be logical.

I can't remember if Peta clarifies there's an identical multiplier or so involved in the process. If so, the mistake was done by me.

And I disagree you could make any result 'logical'. I thought 22 could be logical as well (exactly the +4 +6 +4 +6). I heard these mathematical patterns tend to come with four given numbers (maybe to remove to possibility or multiple logical answers). For example if the riddle would give you 8 12 18 27 the answer would be 40.5.

Actually I understood this pattern based on multiplication only after another time I tried, when I got a pattern "32 24 18" (answer is to multiply the number by 3/4). Still I figure it'd be best to have four numbers to work with instead of three.

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I was just going to make the same complaint. The riddles are no good. The series you get from Giles in the marketplace goes

    18
    9
    6

I guessed 3 based on the pattern

    3 x 3 x 2
    3 x 3 x 1
    3 x 2 x 1
    3 x 1

which, apparently was wrong. I protest, though, my solution is completely accurate based on the pattern I was given. Another one I could come up with for the same values are:

    18/1 = 18
    18/2 = 9
    18/3 = 6
    18/4 = 4.5 (however, that wasn't one of the choices given, I don't think)

You could also make an argument for '2' (based on the same logic as my first guess). Both 3 and 2 were among the list of choices, and either one could be the correct answer.

If you are going to do riddles like these, the solution needs to be unique, or at least if it's not unique, only ONE of the right answers should appear in the list of options. Otherwise, you may as well just guess randomly.
The locus of my identity is totally exterior to me.
