I know it's been done before and with other variants . But having access to 32 point builds , I figured I would try an create an Elven Bladesinger themed character . To represent the arcane castings of the blade singers I was thinking of going bard for the versitilty options Bards offer . Prolly going down the war chanter pre line. Splashing in two levels of rogue for the evasion . An maybe 2 levels of fighter for extra feats to make adding in dragon marks for displacement evasion tanking more viable and not have to waste spell slots on them . Ac won't be overtly high being limited to light armor and twf . Hoping the dps with everything else will be able to come together to a viable build . This isn't going to be a front line main tank by any stretch and is very much a group support character , but also be able to solo an not get completly hammered by trash mobs .
Why going bard in place of wizard ? well sure the fighter/ wiz is classic old school D&D , but in ddo it really just doesn't mesh well . I had a 16th level fighter /wiz build that in the lower levels was alot of fun . But once I started doing titan an other 12+ contents the build got exposed for it's several short commings . So I reluctantly scraped it .
So I was thinking something like a 16 bard / 2 rogue /2 fighter splash might end up producing a more versitle an viable " Elf Bladesinger " with bard your still casting off Arcane magics like the blade singers , the rogue evasion for that high dexterity they were renowned for . and the fighter to add in some extra feats to make things come together for displacement evasion options . the traps an lock pickings pure extra fluff that isn't important . The 16 bard levels for access to level 6 spells , and allowing to be competant enough with bard songs an crowd controlling .
It's aimed at being a fun build that may never be top dps , cc, but it might be something quirky enough to actually work . I was figuring on something with feats like the elf dragon marks , with the twf chain an tossing in extend with pa an weapon focus : piercing to qualify for the warchanter pre .
stats wise was thinking a starting with something like
str:15
dex:16
con:14
int :8
wis:8
cha:15
tossing in some +2 tomes at 7th level in str , con, dex, and cha . with level up points going into prolly strength and maybe con .
feats an spells haven't worked out which ones in any particular order . which classes at what levels I also haven't worked out . Just figured what in ddo could best fit for a blade singer dps style of build , and tossed in the dragon marks an rogue splash for evasion displacements to help support the build .
Would this sort of build work enough to be usefull while still being fun ? Would prolly be more of a solo style of build approach as Sarlona lately seems to have alot of bard hate going on along with favored soul hate hehe .
anyways I know this isn't perfect an it may be the silliest build out there but it's a video game isn't fun what it's all about ?
