Default Prey on the Hunter - What the @#$%

Has any of you attempted Prey on the Hunter since DDO went F2P?

A bunch of guildies and I have attempted it a few times only to fail on getting through the maze to save the dragon. Last night we split into 3 groups and made our way easily through the maze in about 2 minutes however that still was not enough time to save the White Dragon. The lead guys just entered the chamber when the dragon was killed.

I was under the impression that this was timed but now am thinking that it just depends how hard the mobs are hitting. We were in on Normal with a full party so I'm wondering if Dungeon Scaling may be causing this.

Has anyone seen or experienced this?

    Looking for any good tips.

Did over the weekend 3 runs on elite with no issue. And just to check for you to see if normal was bugged just did a normal run. No problems.

Timer starts as soon as you step past the shrine, so if someone went past, came back and then dillydallied at the shrine, you were burning time. You might wonder how we discovered this...

don't go past the last shrine till the party is ready! Then haste and all go at once. have someone flesh to stone the mage and cleric giants. Run to the cave entrance and wait for the boss. take him out and cleanup the mobs. If done properly less than 2 minutes.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues with it at all. When you see the yellow DM text pop up,that's when the fight starts.

    My tips:

    1. Move as a group to the maze, then split up and communicate constantly as to the way through the maze.
    2. Only Sorcerers and Wizards should stop at the Dragon, and immediately they should enervate and stone the giants, then take down the clerics. (Leave one melee to take out the Clerics so that the named spawns, if the casters can't do it themselves).
    3. Never leave the Dragon alone, two more giants come to attack the dragon after you come in, and some giants may make their saving throws. Leave them stoned so that the Dragon has a distraction. After I have stoned all of the giants in sight, I typically throw about 3-5 more enervations on each one, as if they were some punk in a PVP pit =D

THere is no dungeon scaling for a Full Group. Highly unlikely it would cause this.

2 Minutes seems like a long time to get through the maze, but maybe not, I;ve never really timed it myself.

Dungeon scaling does not affect elite difficulty. I had the same experience with a group the other day running on normal or hard. Two on norm one on hard). Failed all three. The white dragon is dying way to fast. Can almost guarantee is dungeon scaling.

    Godspeed.

    Thumbs up Tnx

I think we found the root of our problem. We thought the timer started from the archway however from all of your posts it starts from the shrine. We had one of the party go AFK as we started up from the shrine and we waited before the archway probably chewing up the timer.

It makes sense but really sucks!!!

To bad there are not further messages to warn of failure as in Madstone.

Thanks for all the good tips guys.

BTW - We learned that Wounding and Puncturing still rule the quest even though they nerf'd them.

    Theres no timer per say..

Just when you see the DMtext as you enter the archway (not the moment you leave the shrine) talking about the dagon.. He activates and all the trash giants spawn and attack him..

How long it takes for him to die depends on his saving throw rolls heh. The only things that really hurt him are the sorcerer fireballs and cleric blade barriers/cometfalls, so it depends on how spammy they are feeling with those spells.

Varies greatly, with an optimal route I can get there in about 40 seconds.. Sometimes the dragon is at 90%, sometimes hes at 50%. Either way its pretty easy on normal - you can go straight for the triggger cleric - 1 is a secret trigger to spawn the boss - usually the farthest one from where you enter, but they can shift around so killing both is safer, ignore the other stuff on him and dps the boss without every worrying..

On elite he takes damage even faster so you have to pull the agro off him imediately or he will generally die.
