Animations not working

I downloaded the High Resolution version of the client and all was fine for a while. But now many mobs have no animations and glide about with arms out and when they die they just stand there then disappear. Recently jumping animations seem to be gone as well, and also sometimes when attacking. Any ideas? I've tried lowering the visuals and running in windowed and none of that seems to have any effect. Anything I can do instead of reinstalling? I have DSL with the download speed on average of 100kbps so that's not my most favorable option
