Default Just another Elven Tempest Kensai..

Nothing here that probobly hasnt been posted in 3 or 4 other builds. Just my take on a Elven Tempest Kensai. Scimmys and Dragonmarks instead of Kopeshes. I trade some damage for a bit of Fluff and flavor.
Comments are always welcome, but this one is posted mostly for my personal reference.

    {16}Intelligence 9 +1 Tome +6 item as needed
    {16}Wisdom 9 +1 Tome +6 item
    {08}Charisma 8

For a 28 Pt Build start at 17STR and drop either Wisdom or Int down to 9. Skill points arent critical in this build. I put most of my points into Balance, a few into Jump, and Maxed out Intim just because I could.

STR Goal would Include +3(4) Tome and +3 Exceptional for 38 Base and +3 Tomes for Int and Wisdom as well.

    Tomes Used
+2 Tome of Strength used at level 1
+2 Tome of Dexterity used at level 1
+1 Tome of Constitution used at level 1
+1 Tome of Intelligence used at level 1
+1 Tome of Wisdom used at level 1

    Skills:

See note above, I dont find any skills particualy Essential for this build. Balance and Jump are always nice and a Solid Intim is capable on this character as well.

I'm building this kind of build (12/6/2 Fighter/Ranger/Monk) on Cannith right now...

What I like about it is that it works great as a 28 point character...

I did my feats and class leveling very different from you however...

I wanted the displacement dragonmark at 6... so I went

    Level 1 - Ranger - Toughness
    Level 2 - Fighter - Dodge
    Level 3 - Monk - Dragonmark I, Mobility
    Level 4 - Ranger
    Level 5 - Ranger
    Level 6 - Ranger - Dragonmark II

    So at 6... 4/1/1 Ranger/Fighter - Ram's Might, self-cast displacement

This is huge... I'm level 6 now, and having self-cast displacement at this low level makes a BIG difference...

    Level 7 - Ranger
    Level 8 - Ranger
Level 9 - Fighter - Improved Critical: Slash, Spring Attack
    Level 10 - Monk - Power Attack

Now, you get Tempest at level 7, and I don't get it until level 9, so there's the diference. I think displacement is worth it. Waiting until 15 for displacement takes away a lot of the flavor of going elf (for a non-power-gamer).

So at 10... both of us at 6/2/2 Ranger/Fighter/Monk - Ram's Might, 2 favored enemies, Tempest, Manyshot, ITWF, IC: Slash, Power Attack, Evasion

Both of us pretty **** solid at 10. You have OTWF, I have displacement. Pretty good either way.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.

I obviosly dont need OTWF on this build at all, but I was unable to find a feat that really made more of a difference that I could take as a Fighter.. Considered Stunning blow... But I cant see me using Blunt weapons too often....

I do thik having Displace ment earlier cant hurt though..

    Hmmm..

If i took both monk levels earlier and move TOughness out to level 9 I could go

    L1 Monk: Dodge
    L1 Feat: Mobility
    L2 Ranger
    L3Ranger: Least Mark
    L4 Ranger
    L5 Ranger
    l6 Ranger:Lesser Mark
    L7 Ranger
    l8:Monk: Spring Attack (Tempest)
    l9Fighter: Toughness and IC
    Extend at L12 with GTWF

Hmm.. I Might have todo that.. Good call.

Tweaked Feat progression for early dragonmarks and option to take the third dragonmark rather than Oversize TWF.... Just in case.....

Hey man, I was considering something like this but came to these conclusions...

12 fighter at 20, thats a long way to get to that Kensai II reward, basically thats your "capstone" on this build.

18 Fighter 2 monk would yield similar or better DPS due to Kensai III crit range competing with tempest. Comes down to preference I think, you lose the cool ranger stuffs.

Dumping the whole Multiclass thing and go Fighter 20 for the +10% speed. Losing evasion (Bawwww!) but the high dex already built in to qualify for 2WF will help you pass reflex saves for half dmg, build in some other things +5 resist item, Firestorm Greaves, a hotbar of energy protection potions, Toughnesses to soak damage.

Also consider leaving the build classes alone at 2monk/12ftr/6rgr, dump wisdom and only pick up the Monk levels for the feats and evasion, wear light armor, pick up CE if you want with spare stat points and this build has plenty of feats to play with. Versatility with power attack or CE.

Anyway none of these really had a clear advantage to me. Keeping ranger levels/evasion/robes seemed a little more self sufficient though but less DPS. I've been racking my brain to figure out how to build a melee baddass elf they are way overdue.

I agree, its a long time to wait, but I think its worth it inthe long run. Tempest and Kensai I are boththere for when yous tart oding Vale/Orchard stuff at least.

I think the 10% Speed boost... Especially in light of our new "Improved" COmbat system is worth it.

THe only time I think I could realy build a pure fighter would be a Warforged THFer. I just dont think the wait for the 10% speed increase is worth it on a TWFer at all. Not when you can get the same speed boost 12 levels earlier by taking the ranger levels. the FIghter Speed boost should of been incorporated into one of the PrE's IMO....

I only put a single build point into Wisdom. All your other points are exactly what the build is already (Sans CE) THis isnt a AC Build. I'll be using Evasion and Displacement tomitigate damage.

I think this is about as badass as it gets for an Elf. Dropping evasion for a couple Barb levels could increase DPS some, but I dont think the sacrifice is worth it. Not on this guy. Plus I went with a little flavor in the build with Dragonmarks....
