Lightbulb Retarget launcher to use .NET Framework 3.0

I'm not sure how you guys managed to get the game running in Vista, but I had to go through pains to get it running on a friend's Vista computer, being that the .NET Framework used is version 1.0, and using the default Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 redistributable from the Microsoft website won't install nicely with Vista. Retargetting the launcher to use .NET Framework 3.0 should solve the problem, as Vista (and Windows 7) comes with the framework integrated, and hopefully it should bring in more users to DDO.

I keep laughing how Microsoft's Software is often not compatible with it's latest OS. Like how we had issues with MS SQL 2005 in Vista because it "wasn't supported in Vista". Um... what?

Someday Java will rule the computer world and we can do away with this .NET junk.

/agree is beyond me why they're still using .net 1.x for the launcher/client.

    Godspeed.

It is a pain that MS hasn't released an updated version of 1.1(Or that the launcher hasn't been updated), but I've used this relatively simple method to install .Net 1.1 on both Vista and Windows 7 in just a few quick and easy steps. If you save the resulting files, then you don't even have to worry about it next time. The link only mentions Vista, but it also works in Windows 7.(Yes, I know they are basically the same under the hood)
