The AH functions here are atrocious.

More to the point why it should be something they fix: The AH is something almost all players will use, whether to try to buy or sell. They will also use it fairly early on when they start playing. Game "problems" for new players are not single issues, they remember things that are bad or difficult to use, as well as bugs.

The earlier they start encountering things like this, the earlier they get the idea that the game won't be what they want to play very long. The game may be absolutely perfect from level 5 up, but if the content and functions before level 5 are so crappy as to drive people away, you won't have enough people to make it to level 5 to see the perfection (no, that wasn't literal.. i'm not saying the game is perfect form level 5 up).

All of this would be moot IF there were no other games out there, but that's not the case. An AH, in all games that have them, is a highly used function.

The lack of a basic text filter has always bothered me. Often times you want a specific property, for instance fortification, and the level of the item (or maybe even the actual item slot) is of lesser concern.

The current system forces potential buyers to sift through pages and pages of irrelevant items hoping to catch a glimpse of what they're actually looking for. This is not fun for the buyer (well, most of us, anyway) and does nothing but hinder the sale of the seller's merchandise. Rule #1: Always make it easy for people to spend their money!

I don't think most of us are asking for tons of parameters, check boxes, bells and whistles. A single text box where we could filter the main window to include what we've entered ("moderate fortification", "collapsed portable", "luminescent", etc.) would hugely improve the functionality of the auction house for the buyers, without whom the auction house has no purpose.

    Default Search the AH

Agreed, the AH is horrible to use. I am a new player and I find the lack of searching a huge drawback to using the AH. I don't enjoy scrolling through pages and pages of items to find the one I want/need. I can't even sort by amount or type for all the items just page by page. This SUCKS!

Default Please add a search line in the AH!

They have it in their lotro already.
Same game engine & already recycled UI parts between the 2 games.
Seems like the works 1/2 done for them before they start.

Definitely signed. Its a quality of life issue for DDO. The AH seems like an afterthought, clunky and tossed out as a placeholder until the real AH is implemented. Before anyone else uses WoW as a reference as to why it should not be upgraded, WoW has been HUGELY successful because of things like this. Not saying DDO should become a WoW clone, but DDO could use more success and picking up a few things that made WoW successful would help achieve that.
