Question So what's the way to go now? 2 Handed or Dual Wielding?

With all the patch hoopla I don't know what build my next toon should be. I am thinking of rolling a Barb and want to know if I should go DW or 2H.

I have heard so much bull from multiple people on the pro's/cons of both that its ridiculous! Back in the day dual wielding was always better than 2H. Is this still the case?

I think duel wielding is still superior, but to less of a degree now. I'm admittedly not a number cruncher, so I'm not going to be able to back that up with figures - but I recall seeing a discussion to that effect earlier in the week. Not enough coffee in my day yet to go digging for it either.

I'd say build whichever one you'd have more fun with, because the Devs are obviously not done tinkering with combat yet. The answer today is almost guaranteed to not be the answer months from now... so shoot for fun.

THF is definitively superior if you're not going to put in the effort to get two copies of your good weapons.

So if you'll be more casual about gearing up, that can be a better choice.

the gap actually widened in this last patch. The extra offhand attack to TWF and the nerf to moving THF were the real kickers.

but considering that its already been mentioned that the attack rates and number of hooks and glancing blows are not final, any commentary ATM is likely to be outdated in another few weeks

if you're set on barbarian you cant go wrong with either style. practically any other class I'd recommend TWF.

Basing any character creation (Or Deletion for some folks) onthe way the attack progressionis working right now is a not a really good idea. We've already been told its a work in progress.

However, I cant imagine how peak for peak THF could ever be considered the best no matter what.

TWF is just harder to Optimize.. But thats always been the case. (due to needing 2 of everythng and the tricky balancing of Str and Dex)
