Default Basion of Power (Hard) - Solo

I finaly got this one on hard solo w/o any deaths the snake boss had killed me in my last 4 attempts before this one. Its not really her thats the issue for my toon its all the trash mobs that spawn along with her. Many! Many! Balls of disco pop up on hard and your bound to fail a save roll unless you have pali type saves. Dodging the mobs, queen, balls of disco, and running through acid fogs, all while trying to pick off mobs is quite a challenge. She dose spam Acid Fog quite a lot on hard so if you dont have FoM you would need to tank her and the mobs or jump up on the chair i think. I would be interested to see how other builds deal with her and her flunkies.

This end fight is the hardest of them all(on Hard) IMO, but a lot of fun. Again, no glitch used to kill her on the chair, this was a stright up fight. Time was 46 Mins for this run.

Mmm? Think you mean the gnolls or hezrou, they cast allot of spells rather fast.. But the marelith? She casts almost nothing, on all difficulties. Only thing I ever seen her do is blade barrier and wrack (blind/knockdown combo), think she only gets divine spells.

I did find that end fight allot more difficult on hard then on elite since the patch (prepatch this fight was always a joke due to the marelith constantly bugging).. Tho on elite we had some very good casters stoning every trash mob that we didn't have on hard, so it was pretty much a rather trivial fight after the trash was done.

It could be them, but the fogs last long after i kill the gnolls, and it seemed more came up as well. The next time a run this I will pay more attention to that. It just seemed to me she was casting the Fogs. I know the Gnolls cast the dancing balls, and she casts the blade barriers. I really dont know all the D&D rules of what casts what so i am sure your right, thats just the way it seemed to me when fighting.

I do stone the cleric with scrolls on the first boss but cant really do that with all the mobs that come out when the snake chick spawns. I just try and take out the gnolls as fast as I can then the Hezru (or what ever they are called) followed by the lions.

    http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Marilith

A marilith’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as chaotic-aligned and evil-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Constrict (Ex): A marilith deals 4d6+13 points of damage with a successful grapple check. The constricted creature must succeed on a DC 27 Fortitude save or lose consciousness for as long as it remains in the coils and for 2d4 rounds thereafter. The save DC is Strength-based.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a marilith must hit with its tail slap attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it succeeds on the grapple check, it can constrict.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will—align weapon, blade barrier (DC 23), magic weapon, project image (DC 23), polymorph, see invisibility, telekinesis (DC 22), greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds of objects only), unholy aura (DC 25). Caster level 16th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Summon Demon (Sp): Once per day a marilith can attempt to summon 4d10 dretches, 1d4 hezrou, or one nalfeshnee with a 50% chance of success, or one glabrezu or another marilith with a 20% chance of success. This ability is the equivalent of a 5th-level spell.

True Seeing (Su): Mariliths continuously use this ability, as the spell (caster level 16th).

Skills: Mariliths have a +8 racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks.

Feats: In combination with its natural abilities, a marilith’s Multiweapon Fighting feat allows it to attack with all its arms at no penalty.

The only reason I can do this quest on hard is because I can sneak my way to the boss without spawning any portals(except for the last 2 they always spawn). A melee tank who could do this would be much more impressive, as they would have to kill the portals and all the mobs. The only time I kill stuff is when I have no choice to get at a chest, and there are also two spots that 90% of the time require you to kill some mobs other then that if you can sneak/hide you can easily get to the boss room.

Personally i love that they did this it gives a point to the skills. The only main new quest were sneak/move silent dose not really help much is Genesis Point, the other 3 its a big big help.

I did it on normal on my Sorcerer who carries stealth because I read how easily you accomplished it. I found it equally as easy. Thankfully Firewall/Acid Fog work perfect on the Marilith. I did not receive the lightning bolt chest as I failed to get onto the little ledges. I couldn't work out the sweet spot to stand during the horned fiend fight.

well there you go, like I said I dont know jack when it comes to D&D rules as far who can cast what. It must be the Hezru who cast the Fogs then, as I dont think its the lions or the gnolls. If its the gnolls then they sure do last a long long time after they are dead. If it is the Hezru guys I dont know why the pets dont cast it? I have never seen them do it. I guess its just the level of the mob.

At any rate the hole room is covered with Acid Fogs, and Dancing balls. That was my basic point =)

If I had to venture a guess I would say it's the gnoll mystics. Since they make gnolls any class and give them whatever spells they want them to have loaded on different difficulties. Hezrou have stench like poison but they don't have acid fog. An unextended fog would last about a minute and fifteen seconds, double that for an extended one.

"Hezrou - Spell-Like Abilities: At will—chaos hammer (DC 18), greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds of objects only), unholy blight (DC 18); 3/day—blasphemy (DC 21), gaseous form. Caster level 13th. The save DCs are Charisma-based."

a pure caster or WF/Melee caster? if your a pure caster thats quite impressive. I would guess the first boss is harder for you then the Marilith? and see I thought she was immune to fire, ice, acid, elec. Just shows you how much I know about this stuff =)

20 WF Sorcerer. I found them both rather easy. I was more irritated with the horned fiend not throwing me up on the right spot, but superior glaciation makes short work of anything on normal. He takes 1300 crits from polar ray and a crit acid fog helps.

Marilith's are immune to electricity and posion and have resistance to acid/cold and fire, but aren't immune.

The Maralith in Bastion of Power will cast Blade Barrier, Acid Fog, Wrack, Burning Blood, Unholy Blight, and Lightning Bolt (or Chain Lightning, I forget which).

The Otto's Spheres of Dancing are from the Fiendish Gnoll Sorcerer that generally comes into the fray at the very beginning.
