OK, so I am stoked that so many people have joined DDO lately. I am also convinced that the DDO community can only benefit from the greater appeal of F2P. But I have to have a rant. Why the *%&!!! cant everyone stop advertising their level 2 adventures as 1-20 in the social panel .Seriously, what is confusing about that part of create party? I know I am not the only person getting irritated by this - sign away y'all .

I'm hoping it's all a part of the learning curve... and that the sheer number of 1-20 LFMs will gradually fade out. However, the Trade channel nonsense has become a bigger pet peeve for me. I've turned that channel off on every character, and am much happier for it.

But, whenever I get annoyed by these things - I look at how many instances are running of the Harbor, Market, and Harbor taverns. That makes me smile again.

Signing probably won't reach the ones that likely need to hear this, but I get everyone's frustration.

Try to understand, especially with the influx of new folks trying the f2p content, many are coming from games where the only way to find groups is to spam the channels. Those who do use the LFG tab may not be aware of the level limit provided by the user. Take me, for example. I come from the LOTRO side...another Turbine product, and they even went to great lengths over a year ago to beef up the LFG functions, and yet still 99% of PUGs are formed over the LFG channel. On LOTRO, I don't PUG, I run strictly with my guild (or "kinship" as it's called over there.) Same thing with DDO...I've never used the LFG tab because I'm either soloing content or duoing it with my best bud. I have an aversion to PUG'ing because in other MMO's you run into too many azzhats, loot whoors, and ninjas to make it profitable, much less fun.

So anyway, nothin' but love, but neither /signed or /not_signed.

Its starting to level out, I am seeing more appropriate lfm's on Cannith now. 4-6, 6-10, etc.
They are finally starting to get it.

Also seeing smarter play starting about level 6 or 7

C'mon peeps. This isnt an argument about being nice to folks who are new to the game (and as I inferred in the OP, I believe everyone should be). This is a chance to voice your irritation at something fundamental. I get that this may be a new system but how on earth can anyone not tell the difference between lvl 1 and lvl 20 in the LFM's. I play on Argonessan and 50% of the groupings are 1-20. 50%!!!!! Sign away.

Being a VIP and a long term player (or 'veteran' as some like to call it). I am really enjoying the influx of new players. HOWEVER, I too think it is silly that the trade/advice/general chat channels are flooded with...

    1. The same question 20 times in a 3 minute span (seriously I sat back watched)

    2. The constant LFG/LFM messages (there is a social panel for a reason)

    3. People trying to sell their +1/+2 gear like it is the uberest thing since a Muckbane (granted I am sure new people may find some of these items useful, but not for long even if the price is affordable - loot and XP are VERY easy to run across in this game)

But the thing that annoys me the most...

VIP's that would rather respond to the flooding of a channel with smart arsed snippy comments.

I mean how many new people are we going to continue to get if we keep treating the 'noobs' like the plague or give them the impression that 'we' are SO much better than them? The great thing about this game is that even as a VIP some of us are more than willing to take new players 'under our wing' and show someone the basics or at least share the knowledge that we have 'learned' over our time in the game.

So yea, I get annoyed by the BS. But I would rather deal with the BS flooding of chat channels than lose the game that I enjoy playing. I can turn off the chat channels if I dont want to deal with the 'noob questions' but I leave them turned on because the more people I help and answer the silly questions of, the more players (income) this game has. Sooo...

The annoyance is really a small price to pay for all the folkes interested and getting involved in the game. I have the patience for things as simple as that, but I don't have patience for ignorant & arrogant ppl with an attitude on voice chat.

I agree it is a small price, but that wasnt the purpose of the post (again read the OP). It was merely to give us all a chance to vent about the 1-20 thing. Does it annoy you? If yes, post away.

Wouldn't it be a nice change to have the level range autochange to say 2 under to 2 over the level of the dungeon by default when you put up an LFM? Of course, there should be a toggle in your Options to turn this off, so you can still start with your 1-20 if you like? Obviously, the 2 under/2 over thing would be tweaked to make whatever seems most appropriate, I just wanted to put a type of example in there. Just a thought.

I also find humourous the influx of inappropriate language with the F2P people. The younguns like to use big words.

I've been playing for 5 days and I have no idea what is a LFM, nor do I know the significance of a "grouping 1-20."

Flame away. It's fun to pick on the inexperienced.

LFM is looking for more, kind of like an LFG, except the opposite. The group puts up an LFM to attract players to run a quest. On an LFM, you can select a lvl range, which is usually within 3 lvls of each other, otherwise, the group members will lose xp for grouping with a higher lvl member. Grouping 1-20 is simply annoying as it makes it impossible to sort through quests. Generally, the LFM tab is organized from lowest lvl range group to highest lvl range. Thus, lower lvl quests are at the top, while higher ones are at the bottom. putting a 1-20 group is simply annoying. Also, new players should quickly catch on to its importance.

The trade thing is funny, yet we can all see why its happening and does not annoy people too much.

Also, nobody's picking on newbies, we're just distraught at their inability to think and their expectations to have all the information handed to them. All the info is out there, and many new players are being lazy and not using the in-game functions available to them, and instead are using those that they know for little benefit, and to the annoyance of other players.

PS newbies is a term of endearment in this case
