Okay, rfachini, I have an email from you on the in-game mail issue. I'll have one of our In-Game Support individuals investigate further on that and we'll reply to your email.

X out the text window, it should prompt you to Save.

    See if that helps.
What is this doing? Is it diabling Direct X10 and setting it to Direct X9? I bought a Vista machine to run Direct X10, so I'd like to still run it if possible.

About the mail issue, thanks for the reply and I look forward to a response. I'll keep an eye on it in game. I know some of my characters never received notifications. I have about twenty characters, so I haven't systematically tested each character.

I've been playing a lower level character and have not been in necropolis or gianthold much-- those were my main freeze points. I did lock up loading Amrath today though. Another person in my guild with an ATI Vista machine is having a similar but not identical freezing problem as well.

That change disables DirectX 10. I have frequent black screen and messed up textures issues with DX10. However, this happens in several games and not just DDO: Assasin's Creed, Crysis to name two. I have tested this out in Windows 7 64 and Vista 64. DX10 looks great, but it hasn't worked without frequent problems.

I think M$ broke it but I haven't found any definitive answers.

OK, thanks for the clarification. As I mentioned, I'd rather play with DX10 on. (I spent $5K on a computer for that ) For those that want to disable DX10, you can also do it through the in-game graphics options and that eliminates the chance of making a typo in your .ini file.

I just froze again in the desert when a shaman cast blindness on me. It actually froze right after I drank a blindness removal potion- so it might be related to the change in state of the graphic display. (Like going from dark screen to loading the images causes the freeze.)

Can I please get a little support here? Is Turbine listening or tracking the data for all of us that have been freezing? Anyone? Mirthgar? Paiz? Tolero? Bueller?

UPDATE: This is getting pretty old here... Since it takes so long to load, the shaman casts blindness on me again while I'm rebooting the game. Then a hyena next to him trips me. When I finally remove the blindness, I freeze again.

I'm getting the crashes as well. Been trying to work with support but nothing they suggest has worked. I also have Vista 64 and ATI 4800 series card. I've tried turning of DX10 but it still is crashing.

I am having similar difficulties with this game on my Dell Inspiron 6000. ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300. Everything is very choppy, and the load times between areas are 5 minutes or more. Very long. Usually once I am in a dungeon instance (solo) the choppiness is drastically less. Although there is still some hick-ups every now and then.

For some reason the reading and writing to the hard drive is excessive when these freezes are occuring, and more so in the public tavern, or town areas. I simply cannot navigate around with all the massive twitches/rubberbanding/freezes that goes on. Christ! It takes me 20 minutes sometimes to walk from the Dinghy to the mailbox! That is not fun!

Is there any form of tech support here? This cannot all be my system's fault as it has zero problems running other games similar with zero hitches....

I've been attempting to do research before I reply to you. We haven't forgotten you, I promise! Please keep reporting it when you have an issue with the mail. As for the technical issues (game freezes), I'll hand that over to Tech Support to handle. I would probably break something if I tried to fix your tech errors.

At this point I don't care so much about the mail. I've also been able to start the game OK.

The flickering objects in game are annoying. They don't crash the game though.

What I absolutely need some help with is the freezing. Update 1 seems to have made it worse. I froze four time in a couple hours, once near the Inspiration area of the harbor, once near Jeets, once in the Jeets quest, and once near the brothers in the marketplace while taking screenshots. Turbine has not given me any support. I was told Mirthgar would help me, and I received an e-mail from my tech ticket, but I have not been contacted for information or given any help. Please help me, since freezing since mod 9 is not what I'm paying a monthly fee for.

Default freezing issues only in DDO

i have had this problem since f2p came out. i have been running win7 64bit.

for me the game does not freeze if:

i use the default drivers (WDDM 1.1)
i use the ati 9.7 drivers.

    freezing occurs in 9.8, 9.9, and 9.10

i am still waiting on my OEM win7 x64 in mail from newegg.com. Hopefully the problems will not persist.

Yeah, tonight I froze once loading zawabi's refuge and then after i restarted i froze from the mephit blindness bug.
What horribly bad programming and non-existant support Turbine is providing.
They are still happy to take my subscription fee, however.
Maybe ATI will be able to help me, but somehow I doubt it.

I might just try and post here everytime I freeze. Maybe Turbine will sticky the post and use the information to solve our problem, but I think they will just continue to ignore it and take my money. The lack of support is a very bad stain on an otherwise fantastically great game. Too bad a one year old $5000 computer isn't good enough to run DDO.

The last three freezes did not require a hard reboot to get the game to crash so I could restart it.
    All my time:
    3:15 froze entering harbormaster's quarter
4:30 froze in hammer and chain
    5:50 froze loading necropolis

four freezes in one hour co6. 3 were mephit freezes so I'll put them on the mephit sticky. 2:09 was the non mephit freeze in quenching the flames, shortly after a mephit freeze but long enough after that I don't think it was a blindness freeze.

I hope I'm not wasting my time by reporting these.

10:07 PM froze loading necropolis. I had turned object draw distance down to low to see if it would help. It didn't. There was a lot of hard drive activity, light was blinking like crazy. It still is, in fact, with the game closed down. Not sure why. Internet explorer is the highest memory using process, followed by windows sidebar. Closing sidebar did not lower the hard drive activity. I'll try closing Internet Explorer and then restart the game.
