    Default Hey you new people.

First of all, Welcome to Thelanis!

    We're awesome!

Second, we need to have a little chat about the blathering on in General Chat. We can reduce chat pollution by 50% if we just follow some guidelines!

    1. LFM/LFG -- USE THE LFG TOOL. PLEASE. FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYTHING HOLY USE THE LFG TOOL. I'm done replying to everyone in tells while I'm trying to keep my party alive or kill things. If you want to join, open up the tool. Find my group. Click Join.

    2. Trade goes to the /trade channel. Just type /trade instead of nothing before your sales pitch.

    3. Shut up about WoW. No one wants to hear about WoW or DDO's comparisons to WoW. You're playing DDO now. It's a great game and you can have a lot of fun playing it if you shut up about WoW and just enjoy yourself.

I'm glad we had this little chat. Thank you all for being part of our community, we really do like the influx of new players.

If you've posted the LFM, and are currently running the quest, ie
"in progress". It's far easier to right click the "teller"'s name and
invite to your party. Takes about 2 seconds.....

    Cheers

Reminds me of Basic Training, in our third week someone saw some fresh recruits going to their first shakedown and, prior to be sentenced to 20 pushups and running around the company unitl we reached our destination, decided to cat-call

    "Smells like new BDUs."

The forums have been redone since I last had an account on them and I guess it didn't get carried over. No matter. I've been a paying customer of this game since it launched.

So i logged on this afternoon and I caught a new person looking for advice , being in a generous mood I decided to indulge him , this is how things panned out .

If you need just skip to the last six paragraphs , shes a bit long winded .

(Advice): Playerx>] for ranger how much more spells do you get for 16 wis?

(Advice): [Krushemall] I'd start with a 12 wis

(Advice): [<Player<\Playerx>] i have 14, whats the benefit for 16?

(Advice): [Krushemall] none really that you can't gain by using items

(Advice): [Krushemall] you can get an item say +4 wis easy enough

(Advice): <\Playerx>] so wis doesn't effect how many lvl 1 spells I can cast like in pnp?

(Advice): [Krushemall] yes it does but you don't need a 16 wis you can make it up with items

(Advice): [<Playerx] yea, but then will I have more spell slots...

Advice): [] and what will that do for me?

(Advice): [Krushemall] let you cast all the high level ranger spells

(Advice): (another player giving advice) ] the higher the WIS you have the higher the level of spell you can cast and the more spell points you get per level.

(Advice): [Krushemall] and let you put those stats elsewhere

(Advice): [<\Playerx>] my char is made how am I going to realocate stats lol

(Advice): [Krushemall] if you're not happy make a new one

(Advice): [player x] wow, did I ever say i wasn't happy with the char?

(Advice): [Krushemall] visit the ddo forums for some great build advice

    (Advice): [<Player<\Playerx>] $%^&* turbine zombie

(Advice): [player x] advice means answer the #$%^7^% question not give a scripted response...

Advice): [Krushemall] wow what a rude idiot

    /squelch

I've never been accused of being a turbine zombie before . I'm deeply insulted !

Just to add two things I thought would be helpful:

    - There is a manual for playing the game at: http://www.ddo.com/ddogameinfo/manual
It’s a nice thing to at least page through!

    - Read the entire quest text, it can be very helpful before charging into some dungeons. Also read what the NPC’s say. I promise this will not make you a roleplayer.

Actually, don't use LFG. Or, if you do, don't expect it to help. If you want to join a group, watch the LFM panel and click the join button. If you want to form a group, open the LFM and hit the "create party" button. And don't forget the level range

But LFG is kinda useless... very few people forming groups bother to look at the people LFG.

Default If I had one wish...

It would be that the new peeps would figure out how to use the LFM's...

ie...if your quest is a lvl 5 quest...advertise lvl ranges 3-5...or whatever. Im SOOO TIRED of going through all the 1-20 lfm's when im on a lowbie.

heh..i might go make a thread in the new section.

    Default Advice

New people may have better luck asking questions using /a for the advice channel. There is so much useless chatter and LFG/LFM garbage in general chat that valid questions may get overlooked.

Also - you have a map!!!! Use it! You can enlarge it and see where trainrers are, where the mailbox and Auction Houses are (once you are out of Korthos) and see where quest givers and taverns are. Shouting "WHERE IS THE WIZARD TRAINER????" in general chat will get you an answer, it just might not be helpful or the one you're looking for....

My characters are listed at the bottom of my signature. You can also ask anyone in Legion if Daybreak is online.
