Newbs in Korthos asking that question are far away from getting a pair of those out of VoD, or even a set of backstabber gloves. Think from a newb perspective when answering. "Yes" may be technically correct, but it's misleading. Fill in the rest of the answer if you really want to help, i.e. "a pure ranger will get sneak attack damage only when using backstabbing items/weapons, or as a halfling with the guile enhancements"

I'm pretty sure no one with sneak as a feat can get sneak attack damage without the sneak attack feat, which is why rogues are the only ones that can. But you must have sneak enabled and a backstab weapon, and attack from behind.

Composite Longbows have more range than regular Longbows and allow you to Target mobs that arent visible yet due to draw distance limitations. Thats why Compounds have more range. You wouldnt notice it unless you have a high end computer though.

The thread is about preventing the spread of misinformation... so spreading more misinformation in this thread that a new player can read and get even more confused about is funny how?

Maybe if you added an to the end of your statement it would have been taken as sarcasm, but it looked like you were just posting something that you thought was true... /shrugs

How is it not funny when someone is all ranty about spreading misinformation to derail the thread into a misinformation fest?

I mean, come on, you think this thread's going to stop misinformation at it's source? It might also cure hunger, create world peace, and make battle clerics actually contribute to a party. Who knows.

I think this thread has remained derailed as of, oh, immediately after the OP.

BTW, I have a battle cleric that I built around 3 years ago that can heal with the best of them, and holds his own when toe-to-toe.

The other awesome tidbits of info that I've seen is "press Alt+F4 to see how much money you have.", and also "Type /death check to see how many times you've died."

Of course there are always players who answer any question with "press Alt+F4".

That sounds like someone knowingly being a jackass though. If you want to do that, just be prepared for people to not like you (and if youre like many, you may not care about that).

I spent 30 minutes on a lowbie in korthos tonight. I was SHOCKED at the amount of VALID questions that were being answered by people that had no clue what they were talking about.

If I could please implore all of you Old School D+D players that just started playing this game, dont answer quetions based on how P+P works, because not everything here follows rules set forth in P+P.

For anyone else answering a question, before you start trying to be the first to answer a question, finish reading it. When someone asks if they will be able to get sneak attacks as a pure ranger and you say yes because "everyone has the ability to sneak" (actual answer tonight) you are making someone think you know what you are talking about when you have NO IDEA.

I strongly feel that FTP will bolster this game and help it grow, but for the love of ham, please help it grow the right way, with people learning the right things.

Who decides who is knowledgeable enough to respond to help questions? My guess is that you feel you should hold that position. So in a sense, you feel superior or elite to others...at least in knowledge. I'm sorry, but your reaction and thread leave more of a bad taste in my mouth than perhaps some noob giving advice to some other noob. It is ironic it turns out he was right and you wrong.

Why did you feel the need to post here and not just comment to the two your concerns about the sneak issue? In the normal act of communicating, maybe they or you would have learned something.
