Any tips on getting it to work? I get past the logon client then when it launches, it just hangs on a black screen.

I've tried running as admin, running in compatabilty mode, installing directX 9 - nothing works.

    any thoughts?

Black Screen? make sure your video card drivers are up to date.

im truly an idiot when it comes to computers so dont take what i said as a insult just suggesting.

Hopefully turbine is working on making the game fully compatible with Windows 7. (not that it isn't just seems so from your problems)

Been running DDO fine on WIndows 7 since January beta... be sure to get updated drivers. Nvidia has offered W7 beta drivers since January as well.. had no issues with net framework.. not sure why you are getting that..

I'm a little ticked off that I just installed 7 x64 and I can't get DDO to run out of the install directories from XP.. oh well.. guess I'll make a third copy of it.. sigh.

You might try slipstreaming the install of .Net 1.1 (the instructions are for Vista but shouldn't make any difference).
It occurs to me that the dice are being rolled by the same computer that's trying to kill me. It knows all the moves - it's just toying with me.

The DDO installation automatically installed all that stuff, and I was ready to go. I can't believe how much faster the game loads in Win 7 vs Xp .. doesn't play any faster, and i've got some crazy weird input lags, but I'll figure out how to fix that, I hope. it loads crazy faster, though.

It is prompting you to install a .net update. So do a search online for that .net version, or try something like ".net update windows 7 64 bit" and then install a version that is as high, or higher than the one the game is requiring. Then try your installation again after rebooting the PC.
