Default What classes "tank" when you get to higher levels

Say like level 12+. I'm just curious cause I have a rogue right now that is level 7 and it seems there is hardly ever a designated tank in the groups I'm in. So I'm wondering what classes work out to be the best meat shields at higher levels?

    Thanks

Classes are not devided up into Tank/DPS/whatever in DDO....a STR based rog can get the highest DPS in the game as long as he does NOT have aggro.

I have a multiclass caster(2rog/2paly/13sorc) that can out DPS some tanks with his great axe.

The thing about DDO, is the freedom to multiclass and play with new builds. In this, any class can be DPS.

I was asking what classes end up being able to take the hits best, nothing about dps. Obviously you don't mobs swinging at a rogue normally. So what characters would you normally want the mobs to focus on. Because in my experience so far you get all types getting beat on and when that happens the group usually doesn't do very well.

It's not about class, its about build. You can have monks, fighters, palis, rangers, and more, all with excellent AC. Barbarians can often hold the agro and take the beating by force of HP alone.

This game isn't so simple as class A does trick A only.

Yea for 90% of content, a tradtional "tank" is never important.

Really the only time it should be a concern is for endgame raids. Particularly Vision of Destruction, Hound of Xoriat, and Tower of Despair you need dedicated tanks.

By far the most reliable class for this is the Barbarian class. As just about any decent Barbarian will have enough hitpoints, DR and a DPS to handle the job. For VoD, a Warforged Barbarian is prefered, as the main boss does a healing curse, making healing very difficult, but has no effect on repair/reconstruct.

For normal on these raids, sometimes an "AC Tank" is preferable, as it can lower the overall resource cost. But finding one who has the right gear to perform it is much more difficult. Generally a well built Fighter or Paladin can fill this role well. Tho even Rogues, Rangers and Monks can do it, given exceptional equipment.

For hard and elite, AC tends to fail, as hitting the right AC score generally invovles a large loss of DPS, making it too difficult to hold the agro, giving the task back to the Barbarians again.

try comparing with well built, well equipped melees, and your MC type will fall short, horribly short
If you want to know why...
