    Default Improve this Battlecleric

    Hello all great DDO minds-

I just started with the head start here a few weeks ago, and liked the game enough to go VIP. I've leveled quite a few toons to lvl2-4 to test out the different classes, and I find myself liking the Battlecleric for my 32pt build favor grind. What I need is advice on how to proceed, since most templates are pre-Mod9. What I have:

    1 Fighter / 3 Cleric
    Str 14 + 1 enchant = 15
    Dex 14
    Con 14
    Int 10
    Wis 17 + 1 feat = 18
    Cha 6

Feats: Toughness, Power Attack, Extend Spell

Enhancements: Dwarven Armor Mastery I, Dwarven Axe Damage I, Fighter Critical Accuracy I, Racial Toughness I, Cleric Energy of the Zealot I, Cleric Wisdom I, Fighter Toughness I, Cleric Wand & Scroll Master I

    All this gets:
    BAB +3
    Primary hand +7 1d10+4 slash,magic (+1 Dwarven Axe)
    Secondary hand +2 Wooden Shield
    Wearing +1 Full Plate
    AC 27

The newbie template that I was mostly following has a Barbarian level instead of Fighter, so I am starting to get to the point where I am off on my own. I'm guessing that I should continue taking Cleric levels to get to Blade Barrier asap, but I would love some advice on Enhancements. I love the melee survivability of this build, and want to maximize it. This won't be an endgame raiding character, rather a favor farmer for unlocking the server rewards. Thank you in advance.

You will be fine for endgame raiding, though with a 14 Str you won't be able to play a melee role effectively (you'll miss a lot in combat and deal only mediocre damage).

Enhancements - great choices so far - just make sure to grab the Life Magic enhancements (the chain that enhance your healing spells by 10/20/30/40%); grab these early as they make your SP go much further. Otherwise, keep picking them the way you have been; I advise also Fighter Item Defence 1 as it will save you gold.

The Barbarian/Fighter choice comes down to picking between increased movement speed and an extra feat - both are roughly equivalent choices.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

So far his high AC (relative to the quests) makes him rather unstoppable, with the exception being spell damage. Is there any way to boost spell damage defense / mitigation? I see the "Dwarven Spell Defense I" enhancement with a +1 to saves, but I don't know if that is effective or not in actual play.

Also, should I stick with the sword & board, or would this still be survivable with a Greataxe? It seems the only problems I've run across are the aforementioned spellcasters, and then the times when there are streaming mobs that the 1h axe can't kill fast enough to keep the population under control.
