Default you broke the abbot again or WAI?

noticed that several times now since mod9 on my ranger:
i dont know why and dont know how to reproduce it but the abbot is immune to ranged somehow. no hit registered, no dice rolled, nothing, nada

even the first sarcophag on icepuzzle is immune to the storm crossbow

any word from the devs on that?

Have done several Abbot completions lately, including two Thursday night. Haven't noticed this problem... I wonder if it is bow-specific? Does it apply with other bows?

I wonder if it relates to how his mantle will intermittently block spells higher than level 4.

I've noticed a few other named mobs seem to be immune to Ranged as well. I can't remember them all atm, but I know that at least three were the crime bosses you can recruit in Come out and Slay. They could not be hit with ray spells nor ranged weaponry, both would aim for the ceiling even with the named mob clearly targeted, but AoE spells hit them fine.

Try taking your quiver off and re-equipping it. Some people were complaining about no rolls for ranged on our last abbot run and that fixed it for them.

ranged combat was just too powerful. it was costing ddo some sales in mana pots and the clerics were getting lazy. so they took it down a peg or two. **** archers thinking they are all that and a bag of arrows.

not using a quiver since those arcane arrows dont go in there anyway
tried it with several bows: transmuting of gr bane, lightning 2, even by accident with the abbot bow
€: and as in the last 40 completions it dropped only once and i lost the roll and ofc it wasnt there in 20th and 40th list...nop, not used a quiver

    Wait wait wait a second...

I wonder if those arrows are considered a spell... and if so, if they're lower than level 4...?

Just a thought... have you tried with other arrows?

Well, Yes they would be tied in such way if they had thought about it, rangers do not cast higher then forth level spells, even in spell like abilities - thus the same result ... would stand to reason. One thing technically has annoyed me about mantles,

Certain spells should still fall under the heighten meta and as such the spells under level 1-4 should be preparable as higher level then they are...

    Heighten Spell [Metamagic]
    Benefit
A heightened spell has a higher spell level than normal (up to a maximum of 9th level). Unlike other metamagic feats, Heighten Spell actually increases the effective level of the spell that it modifies. All effects dependent on spell level (such as saving throw DCs and ability to penetrate a lesser globe of invulnerability) are calculated according to the heightened level. The heightened spell is as difficult to prepare and cast as a spell of its effective level.

Is it bugging as the typical "no roll" or just flashing the "immune" on an attribute such as force or just tracing off somewhere else as if deflected or blurred?

The first ice sarco is notoriously hard to target, but the abbot's pretty easy really

If you absolutely wanna range the abbot, there are far better and more effective ways to do it than using a bow

During our 2 man abbot this happened quite often and Stopzerjing had to remove his arrows and re-equip then to get it to work again. Something that I read, might have been in the known issues, about going from a throwing weapon (ex: asteroid boulders) to ranged weapon.

Unequip the ARROWS, the reequip. Have you noticeds it's generally after you've held an ice wand or astroids? I did, tried that, and all my problems were solved.

un-equip your arrows and re-equip them.

I've seen a similar bug before. Not related to Abott.
