    Default Black Widows;changed behavior?

Alright, something is DEFINATELY up with Black Widows here.

Back when I played a while ago, black widows were like any other spider, except they had the ability to web. No big deal, you get webbed, get a few acid hits, and break free. No big deal, in my opinion.

Now, its utterly ridiculous. Something is DEFINITELY up with the behavior of Black Widows now; when they attack you, quite often, the attacks consist mostly of web, and they will non-stop web you for as long as they can, while throwing in a occasional acid attack until you are dead. While this really isn't a problem if you are in a party, and while it is a HUGE problem for soloists, and last party-member standing people, I still feel it is a ridiculous problem, because while your party members are taking out the black widow, you are just stuck there, getting mercilessly pounded by the black widow. And if, in a good party, its the Cleric, the black widow is in the back, and there's enemies in the front flanks, then the party could be utterly finished if the opponents are strong enough.

If this behavior was first present when I started playing this game, then I would have no problem whatsoever, and I probably would not be bringing up this issue right now. But this change in AI for the Black Widow has really got me going.

If, indeed, the behavior of the Black Widow was changed, someone please show me the page of the release notes and where it's located. The problem will be all settled then once I see it actually was a change. But otherwise, feel free to tell me about the changes in the Black Widow AI, and if a GM is reading this, could you check the scripting of the Black Widow, to see if there's anything wrong with it? I suggest you look at the parts of the scripting where it casts web, and anything else to do with attack.

    That is all.

I don't get it - you're complaining because the mob ai has been improved?

There was a change, though I don't recall when. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Black Widows basically have caster-esque AI now, which explains why they tend to stick with their long-ranged attacks and back off when you try to melee them.

People still complaining about spiders? lol.

I remember years ago all vermin were about 4x harder, especially on hard and elite. I loved it.

They seems so weak and useless these days.

Your worried about spider webs? It's an ultra low DC double save..You could get a reflex save above 1, or str above 10 and it wouldn't effect you much.

Or if your a squishy caster or cleric theres other options to be immune to it,, Freedom of movement for clerics, and fireshield for arcanes.

Very true, I can remember quite a few wipes on tangleroot elite at the first encounter (The spider princes). Ahh, good times
