    Default Playing DDO from China

Hey guys, I had a quick question I was hoping someone could help me with. I have been playing DDO with a friend of mine pretty frequently the past few days. He just left the U.S to go on a business trip to China only to find out that he is unable to log onto the DDO server while there. When he tries to log on he just gets an error message saying

Connection Interrupted, The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

He told me that he gets the same connection error when trying to connect to other sites such as facebook and youtube. Are there no DDO servers in China? would it be possible for him to connect to a server here in the U.S? Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated

    Default Great Firewall

I'm a British expat in China. Your friend has run into the Great Firewall of China. The Chinese government blocks any sites it deems harmful to the communist party. Especially at a sensitive time like now, with the 60th anniversary of the party just around the corner.

I'm trying to play this game from here, but having no luck. I'm hoping some VPN software could help me out.

He should ask the local geeks how to work around the firewall. They always have a way or two, no firewall could block the Chinese super crackers.

Really? I live in Xi'an and I couldn't get it to work until I finally gave up and forked over some cash for StrongVPN. Works fine with that running.

I used the premium Open VPN. I got it for the server in Hong Kong, but I don't think that's really necessary. I think the Open Lite package might be ok. Cheaper by $20 a month too.
