    Default Solo cleric help?

Hey guys, I'm planning on re-rolling tonight when I get home (12 est i think) with my bro
Was wondering what a good cleric build would be with a splash of something pally/monk/fighter or something for 28 point builds only. We're relatively new to the game, and our highest is level 5 :S
Anyways he's going to play something with rogue skills, dps like.. I pretty much want to tank and heal us etc
Just wondering if someone can do me up what they think is the best build for starting out keeping in mind I have no money, no 32 point, blah blah blah
    Thx

Well matters if u healer or battlecleric --

    Battle Cleric= 12 cleric 8 fighter
    Healer= 18cleric 2 fighter

Straight healing is the best for anything, everyone needs one. and guilds always want one.

    No.

    Wrong.

What gave you that silly idea?

The truth is more like: Battle Cle19/X1 or Cle20, Healer Cle20. To go Cle12/Fig8 makes basically no sense, and I can't actually remember any characters who've tried that. (Cle14/Ran6 wouldn't be very good, but at least it has a reason behind it)

That's a great link. I'm playing a Cleric 6/Fighter 1 right now. He's pretty close to what that link describes as a Melee Capable Cleric. I don't consider him a Battle Cleric since he is not solely focused on melee. He's what I think of as a balanced cleric a la AD&D v2 PnP. In any case, whatever you call him, so far he's a blast. Not only can he keep a party alive by healing, but he's quite good at mitigating damage via offensive casting and melee. You can easily tailor your actions to the needs of your party. Frequently, I'll lead my party in kills. I solo most stuff easily so far. And if you want to pug, just turn off anonymous, you'll get lots of invites.

Currently, I don't have any plans to take any other levels than Cleric to end up Cleric 19/Fighter 1.

Take my comments with the caveat that I've played PnP for decades but I just started playing DDO in late July, and I don't like zerging.

    Edit:
One note. This was my first character. I started as Cleric and didn't decide to take a fighter until level 7. If I was planning a new character, I would strongly consider taking a level of Ranger at first level and then the rest Cleric for the following reasons.
    1. Ranger at first level gets you a boat load of skill points.
    2. You also get bonus spell points that you won't get by taking fighter.

    Good luck.

Hey there. I'm working on my Battlecleric right now. The build I am mostly following is http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=115800.

Looks solid to me - and so far is rocking!!

I started with 1 level of Barb and will take the rest in cleric. I'm only level 2 after one play session, and was just soloing in order to get a feel for the character. I plan on looking for groups to go through the first few quests again on higher level for favor, but really have no idea what spells I should be using. Solo, I had CLW, Divine Favor, and Prot/Evil, which I'd cast before a tough fight.

Also, I took the Sauhagin (sp) bane mace as a quest reward, which I plan on using after I buy a shield. I'd been using the flaming axe as a level 1 barb, but I'm old school, and clerics just *don't* use edged weapons in my book.

    Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Be warned that avoiding slash/pierce weapons means disregarding a lot of the benefits of a barb level, which is proficiency with many kinds of weapons.

However, in the near future you should at least be able to upgrade to Warhammers and Mauls, which are only slightly behind the Waraxe / Greataxe equivalents.

Yeah, I've decided expediency is higher on the list than RP at this point, and am swinging the Ember Greataxe still. Just made it to the Harbor last night and promptly got cut down in the last fight on Osgood's Basement. :P

I think I need to find a newbie/casual friendly guild on Cannith.

When you are soloing, carry monster summon 1. That Celestial Dog can take alot of heat off of you when you get swarmed and does OK damage.

When you get to level 3 there is a hostage rescue quest in the explorable area outside of the Harbor that has an ooze boss you can kill to get a nice heavy shield +2 that is ooze resistant.

You should be able to pick up a mace+1 as a harbor quest reward or buy one for cheap on the AH. I think its in Durks Secret you can get a +1 mace that is ooze resistant from an ooze boss called Muck.

Get a +1 returning throwing dagger on the AH. There are some critters up on platforms you must have a ranged weapon to kill.
