Default Once More Into the Breach

    Yet another combat speed thread

DDO is a MMORPG mostly based on the D&D 3.5 rules. The combat is not static. Character customization is awsome. The change was made to everyone. Why does anyone care about the speed of the animations? Wouldn't most of us play this if the graphics were stick figures and 4 color CGA?

Because now that they are slow - they make combat suck.

NPC attacks were unaltered, thus, it feels more like a nerf than a sticky covering of molasses over the entire game.

I loved those games. That one was all about that first troll fight to see if you had a good party.

Why does it make combat suck? I'm not even looking at my character in a fight usually.

Actully no I would not play this if the 'graphics were stick figures and 4 color CGA.'
The game is not really D&D 3.5 unfortunatly. They have already screwed the pooch on that but that is an old argument and I have come to terms with it. Now the biggest draw to this game was the combat system (since it is not really D&D and has no world to explore.) And the reason the combat system was the biggest draw was becasue it was action based combat not the boring typical combat system that most MMO's today use (i.e. WoW, EQ, LOTR, Vanguard etc.) Now they have slowed down combat to make it feel more like those other boring systems. Now there is nothing really that makes DDO stand out anymore. Character creation even though by MMO standards is good it is not enough to keep people here if the combat system becomes like all the others.
