Angry Confused About DDO Teams Priorities

After logging into my character, I can play the game for three minutes or so. Afterwards, the game proceeds to freeze... unless I diagnose my net connection. As soon as I click the diagnose button the game UNfreezes, but of course, generally with me dying. I don't understand it at all. Does my net connection not refresh itself while I am playing? Naturally, I should be able to play, but ineffectively, as the game quickly freezes 20 seconds after getting back in.

I can turn and swing my weapon, but I cannot jump or move. I consistently get the 'Connection to Chat Lost' error as well.

I am so confused on what to do. I've tried everything; I changed my IP, opened ALL ports (which is just ridiculous, I shouldn't have to expose myself like that), I've even tried turning OFF my firewall (see previous parentheses). This is getting ridiculous, and free game or not, I'm not even close to being convinced I should buy extras for a game I cannot play.

This is absolutely outrageous. I need help, DDO team needs to get off their asses (you know what I mean, I realize that they are at a computer), SOMETHING needs to be done about this **** thing. Quit working on trying to get as much money as possible from the players already playing, and help other players get into the game, so you can leech us too. It's more money, so where's the bad?

Um, bump? ***, this is kind of important. I'm not the only one with these problems, and no one has an actual solution, just a bunch of suggestions that never work.

You have porvided no information here that anyone can do anything with as far as starting to help you out.

    Who is your IP?

WHat is your internet setup (IE: Cable modem to a Netgear Router to wired ethernet port on my PC)

What anti-Virus software are you using?

    Computer DXDIAG.

    All Drivers up to date?

Who is my IP? You mean what is my IP? Why do you need to know what my IP is?

I'm using wireless connection to linksys, and don't say that this is why; the first few days of me playing DDO worked perfectly fine.

No anti-virus, I turn it off when I play. Firewall, too. And I have 2000-2013/9000 - 9013 Ports opened, TCP and UDP.

I'm good on DXDIAG, says everything is fine.

Do you really wonder why no one is helping you? If you know everything already, why exactly did you post this thread?
If youdotn want to troubleshoot, then your never going to find the problem.

    Good luck.

That's the point of this thread. To show that the DDO team hasn't helped any besides what I've already done. Its a big problem, and I was less than eloquent with the post, and for that I apologize. I was highly frustrated, but I seem to have found the answer. I had to turn my net's internal Firewall off, which is kinda scary, but necessary.

I was troubleshooting fine. I gave you everything you needed to know; you just didn't have an answer beyond what has already been given out a hundred million times.

So, to DDO Team; at least add this solution to your list. When using wireless linksys, go to your linksys page (its different for everyone) and disable your linksys firewall. It'll make it at least appear as though you're paying attention.

Hi KumaRage, sorry to hear you're having problems. I recommend you review the technical support page, and if you can't find a solution that works, submit a ticket. Good luck!

By IP, I believe he meant "Internet Provider".

If you're using wireless, that in and of itself could be part of the problem, due to their being (a) less reliable, and (b) noticeably slower than a wired connection (a/b/g/ type), and still "slower than wired" (n), no matter how fast your actual cable/dsl connection is.

Try disabling any programs you may have running, especially P2P programs, that might be chewing up inordinate amounts of bandwidth while playing. With all of them removed, so somewhere like http://www.speedtest.net/ and have it check your latency/up/down speeds.

When in DDO, wait about 30 seconds after logging in (depends...I'm on midrange DSL and, while everything loads up almost immediately for me, it usually takes 20 seconds or so before I can move my character without seeing "skipping" if I'm in a crowded tavern or somewhere similar; once that's done, I'm good), then hover over the icon that is farthest to the left in the "menu" toolbar at the top left. See what your latency is on there and compare it to what speedtest says; it should also tell you if you're losing packets. Also, if that icon is any color other than greem, that could be an indicator of a connection problem, as well.

I would also recommend trying the steps here and the connection related ones here.

Definitely follow up with a support request though if you haven't yet, since troubleshooting connection issues can be a bit more in-depth than can be performed on the forums.

NOTE: The Customer Support forums are best for Player-to-Player help, for more direct and official support, please submit a ticket to the appropriate team via the form here.

After contacting support, log into your email webpage to add noreply@turbine.com and accountsupport@turbine.com to their "safe senders" list and your contacts list/address book. Be sure to check Spam/Junk Mail folders as well since most email providers do not let external email programs or cell phones download mail flagged this way.
