    Smatt's post is dead-on, imho.

I have no problem beyond the animation speed issue. If combat feels like it sucks, then that is enough to kill interest in combat. And make no mistake - combat now feels wrong.

Pre-patch combat was fun, and now it is not. We may be getting just as many attacks as before "behind the curtain", but if the player feels like they are now attacking like an arthritic old man, then the this-is-so-cool feeling fades rather fast.

Perception is everything. Problem is, right now perception is working against the changes rather than for them.

Does it feel wrong because you are used to the way it was before the patch?

It would be interesting to hear about the new system from the POV of a DDO virgin.

I haven't really made up my mind about the new system yet. The attack speed does seem as though it has slowed, but then again I might not have noticed it if I hadn't known about it ahead of time. Meh, I doubt it will effect my enjoyment of the game much. Unless everyone leaves of it and I am all alone on Thelanis by the end of the month.

No - it just feels slow now. This coming from a wide variety of gaming experience, the combat is just too slow to be fun.

My eleven year old daughter had rolled up a monk that she was working through Korthos. This is the first character she built from the ground up without my help. When she logged in yesterday to play a little bit, she asked me if our computer was having some kind of problem, because DDO was "acting all weird". When I told her about the patch and that the changes were not our computer but rather the new combat - she logged out and put in Spore. So, take that for what you will...

The swing speed is gimped atm and i hope turbine just screwed up some codeing somewhere and they will fix it sooner than *soon* but to say you may not of noticed well...........it's just dumb

But if you walked into the game today, would you notice or is it just because we are used to SwingSwingSwingSwingSwing animation instead of Swing - Swing - Swing - Swing? To me the combat seems much the same with the visuals slightly changed to be more "Fluid".

At low levels it does feel limiting.

I'd rather have two fast swings at low base attack than 4 slow swings with increasing attack. I spec out my characters to be able to hit at base attack.

Just came back to the game about a week or two ago. Been playing my tempest rogue and I can definitely feel the difference. It feels close to Matrix style fighting now, like you are swinging through water. I'm not high enough to know to feel any combat dice changes, but the feel now is sluggish.

That's what I'm trying to say... yes, I think I would. Hard to answer for certain, because I cannot erase my prior experience with the game - but this is amongst the slowest combat in a game I've played since the early Fallout games that really were turn based.

I can answer that for ya. I started during beta, quit a month after it went live (maxed my level in 3 weeks and got bored, lol). Just came back on the 8th I think. Started a tempest rogue and loved the whirling dervish feeling of combat. That has changed. Its like I'm watching my combat for the second time and its been slowed down so I can see everything.

Which means you haven't come into the game after the change, right?

    Just my 2 cents

Not in any business I've been involved in. It's more like, "The customer is always right, unless he's a minority amongst the other customers, or he ****es the owner off, or he is being totally unreasonable and has no idea what he is talking about, or he is making himself more trouble than he's worth." We've asked people to leave before. We've told people, "This is how it is here, there are other places that do it differently if you don't like that."

"The customer is always right" is one of the biggest fallacies out there.

I will explain a bit more. I am 6th lvl, was 5th before the change. I dont know if the combat mechanics have altered for someone my lvl, but the feel of combat seems sluggish. Like you are fighting in slow motion. I believe someone that is unfamiliar would think the combat is slow and this is coming from a long time member of the static mash buttons until monster is dead WoW community. As a matter of fact, I was just using the dynamic combat system to lure some of my wow friends over.

I see more complaints about mouse-look mode than anything.

Seriously bad job by the OP at actualy letting us know what they heck they are going on about.

Besides, I played last night and have no problem whatsover with the attack changes. So realy, why would I jump to the conlusion that's the issue here?

    True.

I don't look at the visual of my swings to see if there's a change. I look at how many damage numbers are visible one above the other over the mobs head before they fade, and how fast they are scrolling up.

    No change.
