    Default Solo Build - please give advice

    This is a solo build strickly for soloing, would appreciate any and all input on how to improve this build.

    Would like to get a good spot and search if it is to low at present, untill True Seeing becomes available.

    A good hide and move silently would be great.

    Does the favored soul's wand and scroll mastery take the place of UMD ?

    No
    It makes you scrolls/wands (with numbers) more effective.

    UMD gives you access to wands/scrolls that are not on the Cleric/FvS spell list.

    Wow I don't have a favored soul and from what I am seeing I am not going to roll one either.The saves,hp's,and bab are way too low.What are you going to do when you are at the end fight in say sleeping dust and you get feebleminded?With that will save it's going to happen even on normal.I'm going to go have a look at the class,I can't believe they are this bad,there must be something about them I don't know.From looking at this they seem gimp for being the ubermost class(not being offensive just shocked at it).perhaps thier aoe like blade barrier are way better than the standard cleric or something?I'm gonna check it out.

    * No GTWF, which is bad.

    * No Extend, which is needed for a class which relies on short-time self buffs.

    * Too low WIS for CC to land

    * Lowish AC, which is not good if you aim for soloing.

    * What do you want Search and Spot for, if not for trapdisabling?



    If you want a versatile solo-capable Melee, with good self-healing powers, take a look at Halfling Ranger with Dragon Marks



    The saves,hp's,and bab are way too low
    saves= FavSould gets 3 good saves
    HP = Thoughness + thoughness lines
    BAB = full, due to constant Divine Power



    The build has problems, but these are not the problems it has.



    P.S.
    Throw out those enhancement reports. they are info-clutter and dissuade people from reading your build.

    If you want a build for soloing that does this, the FvS isn't the answer. I would go ranger if you want to be sneaky and be able to handle traps.

    If you want a FvS solo-build, check out Rathic's WF build.

    Hello one and all:

    I do thank you for your replies.

    Sorry to take so long to reply back.

    I do agree that this is not a good build as it stands.

    It does not take in to considersation any gear or tomes that might be used.

    I have drop this in favor of a different build involing a rogue and FvS and it seems to be working out so far at least in the lower levels.

    Again thanks for pointing out some of the flaws.

    I will have to take a look at the two build suggestions that were given as I believe they are from experienced players. And I am always eager to learn from those more knowledgeable than I.

    A favored soul needs 3 things to be the ultimate soloer.

    1) Bladebarrier.

    2) Heal spell

    3) The knowledge and wisdom to use 1 and 2 properly.


    Anything else is just icing on the cake.

    I wouldn't start with Wisdom any lower than 16 really... maybe 18 if you're going to really focus on casting.

    There is a big debate about starting Charisma though. I recently started a FvS, and I started with 12, I think it's a good number. You may be able to start with 10 or 11, depending on your access to +1 or +2 tomes.





    Just cause I'm interested in the discussion, my Favored Soul build will be 16 FvS/2 Monk/2 Paladin (Drow)

    Starting stats (Current stats):

    Str 12 (14)
    Dex 16 (18)
    Con 12 (14)
    Int 10 (12)
    Wis 16 (18)
    Cha 12

    To start with, I have already read all +2 tomes so far except Charisma. Currnetly 1/1/1 in build. Melee is a little bit tougher currently, but will get better as I get access to more feats and and enhancements. All level up stat points will go into Wis and the shroud items I'll be crafting will be shortswords to begin with.

    Should come out with Incredible Saves, Good caster DC, Good (maybe great) AC, evasion, good heals, good hp (should be around 500ish with a toughness feat and corresponding enhancements), and decent melee. (Just want to be able to contribute to melee, not necessarily dominate)

    Hello All:

    1st: Thank you all for your posts - even more ideas to try out.

    2nd: I went drow for my next try as a rogue/FvS, currently along the lines of Tallyn's build, although I do not have the tomes, and it seems to be ok in the low levels: 1 to 4, but not sure about 5 to 10. Tallyn, I would be insterested what happens to you.

    3rd: I am trying out a Human version - which is based on Impaqt Evoker (Spelling?) build - which seems soild so far as a good caster build - but mine is 28pt and his is 32pt build. I am trying to follow as closely as possible and reading any changes that he suggests.

    4th: Dylvish - the build looks ok to me, but I really lack the knowledge to be of any good help at the moment as there is so much to learn about the spells, feats, and what stacks with what, but I am trying very hard to learn.

    5th: I agree with Lithic that the Heal and Blade Barrier will be important spells to get, which comes at level 12, but FvS will most likely have to be level 13 to get both, if you splash more than 2 to 4 levels of another class.

    As always, it is good to get back good replies and especially good suggestions to try out.

    Hi Foenix:

    With regards to spells I took with this build: Cure Light and Cesterial Dog at the first level. Dog does get argo so as a distraction is very good. I took Command as the next spell and if you wish you could swap the dog for nightshield.

    I got the command Idea from Impaqt - it is a good spell for low levels.

    Since I did not go beyond level 3 - that is all that I can recommend.

    Favis, I thank you for answering my question.

    Noctus, I like a high spot and search because i wish to be able to see mobs and traps on all my chars if possible even though I can not disable the traps. I forgot to do Greater two weapon - but would take. As for extend would take it later - as at levels 1-4 it is not really needed so far as I can tell from what testing I have done.

    Glassjaw, thanks for the information on the WF build.

    I thank you both for the ranger suggestion, and I will definetly look into these builds.
