That would mean evil bypasses the DR. Doesnt seem very useful.

Common misconception. DR/evil does mean that evil weapons can get through the DR. This does not mean that any evil npc wielding a normal weapon gets through the DR.

For instance I play a good aligned character but that doesn't mean I get through the pit fiends DR with just a silver weapon. Nope, it needs to be both silver and good/holy. Really the only place you're going to find a lot of unholy (evil) weapons is the archers in the desert.

devils and orthons go through the dr in all the new stuff from what a guildie of mine (grimbite) said after testing

and there weapons arent unholy. they do sonic damage

Devils natural weapon is considered evil aligned, just as our greensteel blanks are evil.

A creature with an alignment subtype (chaotic, evil, good, or lawful) can overcome this type of damage reduction with its natural weapons and weapons it wields as if the weapons or natural weapons had an alignment (or alignments) that match the subtype(s) of the creature.
