    Default Trouble With Forums

Can't seem to get on them correctly, some how managed to find my way here.

    Server issues?

On a side note, I am rather disappointed in how they did this free player stuff... but conveniently nickle and dimming them to death. Tried to get a friend to try the game out and it was "buy this to level up" "buy that to do xyz" "and buy that to login" all for three easy payments of 9.95.

Why not just get rid of the free to play if your not going to do it right and just make a cheaper subscription. like 5-10 bucks. Or like how NCsoft did Dungeon Runners where it was like 5 bucks a year... ofc thats a totally different game and doesn't take nearly as much resources to run at all. At the very least raise the level cap to like. One expansion/patch behind the current, so make it level 10 or something.

Feel free to drama this up, I'll ignore it but at least I could rant a little

<3 you enough to keep you a live alittle longer! ;p

    Have to agree.
Good friend of mine just came back as FTP.
Although he had missed headtsart, he did participate in lama and had been a longtime sub.
I was shocked to hear him say he had to "buy level 16-20" even though he was already level 16???
If the population stays high, I forsee a lower monthly sub, more like LotRO @ 10 bucks a month.

But I do understand why, with the impending lawsuit the current layout for FTP will keep numbers high and work in Turbine's favor during proceedings.
Very smart move on their part to get numbers and revenue up while making Atari look like con artists for failing to provide anything in their agreement.
Atari was the publisher but what is it they publish now that it can be downloaded? i.e. "no box" and turbine's download manager.

Atari has failed this game on every front.
Turbine has kept their promise to keep it alive.
I could not believe the who list over the weekend.
Used to be guilded players made up @ 80% of total server populace.
This weekend guilded players made up less than 10% of total server populace.
No kidding I mousewheeled through the who list saturday night and it took no less than 3-4 minutes and a sore index finger to reach the bottom of the list.

I missed that about the lawsuit, I don't have to much time to read up on it myself but what happened there? Who is the lawsuit between and about?
yeah the free to play is capped at level 4 which you can basically get in less then 2 hours. Unfortunetly it took me about a month to get enough favor (was really casual) I didn't get far enough on my drow so hes only like level 4 or 5 ><.

You do not have to buy to lvl up. It's an option given to those who don't want to wait for a lvl sigil to drop as an end reward. Every 4 lvls you need a lvl sigil. There are f2p players right now above lvl 9 who have not paid to lvl.

Quoted from massively.com article about DDO F2P:

Why can't I get past level 4? Is leveling capped for players who are not paying?
All players, paying and free to play, can level up to 20. To get past four, free-to-play players can loot certain Sigils from chests in dungeons and select them as rewards. These Sigils will get you past the current leveling checkpoint. The Sigils are also available in the DDO Store. Paying players don't need Sigils to advance at the level checkpoints so they don't have to pass up the other good loot in the chests for them.

As for the lawsuit Turbine is basically suing Atari for breach of contract among other things. There is a forum post somewhere that describes this in detail with links to the legal filings.

If by chance you find it again let me know I am working to much to spend any specific amount of time on it. But I am curious so I am sure I will some day google it.
I hope they don't hurt atari to badly, because I like the NWN series and I am wanting for NWN 3

Well there are rumors floating around about the possible development of a NWN MMO. Dont get me wrong, I love DDO..... but I REALLY love my Forgotten Realms.

Me too, the thing I never liked about D&D and well actually NWN falls in to this category too. Always deal with 3 things, undeath, plagues and zombies... it's so very boring. I'd like to see more depth in the games. I rather liked Nwn2 because a) you could build your own keep, I'd love to see more games like this. it was a lot of fun doing adventures making money to build your keep and sending out npcs to patrol roads and stuff like that. b) you didn't really deal with nearly as much zombie/walking dead baloney as you did in nwn1.

I'd like to see games with more depth. There are a ton of creatures in D&D universe we see far to much of, dragons and undead.

More Orcs, Humans, Ilithids, Pixies, Sherpa, or w/e anything throw me a bone...hehe. To me a good story, would have undead saved for last. Like you deal with a cult, you deal with some creatures, cult returns you start to notice things about em at first mean nothing, another break deal with other creatures, cult comes back with undead friends lastly you deal with some kinda undead overlord liche or something.
