My MyDDO rantings

I'll compile here everything that irks be about MyDDO.

In no particular order:

1. The space we have to write our blog is ridiculously narrow. It's not enjoyable to read something written in such a narrow column. Don't get me wrong, I see the advantage of a fixed width that does not fill a 19 inch screen but that's just way too small for me.

2. Add the other three color choices (blue, green and orange) for people like me who can't stand up the red one.

3. Give us more control over the top bar, so that additional pages can be displayed on the bar instead of being displayed under "Pages" where no one will even think of looking. If I want to create an another page, it's because I want others to see it.

4. Give us control of which widgets to display on each page. It might help solving problem #1.

5. It would be a good idea to link the MyDDO friend list with our forum friend list. It would have also a nice synergy with #6.

6. To follow a blog, I have to add it to my RSS feeds. It would be very nice to add an in-MyDDO function to follow blogs, or at least or friend's blogs. It would prevent me from adding 30 new blogs to my RSS feeds, and make it more likely for me to keep up with more blogs. Even more so for those who don't know what RSS feeds are!

7. Emails warning of new comments are blocked by hotmail.

8. The rating icons are called rings ("Click the rings to rate this post.") even though it's not MyLOTRO.

9. Blockquotes need a little more identification than simply indenting. Consider using a different background (gray would be a good one) or using huge quotation marks like some blogs do but indenting is misleading.

10. If the blog's title is too long the text appears in the search bar, and it looks really silly. (Example)

11. While there is a way to subscribe to the comments' RSS feeds, there is no link to do so. One has to deduct the correct url.

12. This one qualifies more as a bug than a complaint but I'm too lazy to start a thread about it. You can access the friend list from the player's main page (result) but you can't access to from a blog article (result). That's because it seems that clicking the "View all" on someone's friend widget sends you to [current url]/friendslist/ instead of my.ddo.com/[account name]/friendslist/.

13. The loading times are incredibly long.

14. GoogleReader has been having trouble finding the MyDDO blogs I have been adding to my feeds and it seems the problem is on Turbine's side.

15. Does not allow any sort of formating in the "About Me:" or the private message section.

16. There is no way to know if someone has left a comment to a blog article other than by adding even more RSS feeds to my reader. Preferably, I would like the option to have an email notification whenever a comment is left on an article I left a comment on.

17. We can edit other people's comments on our blog.

18. Underlining is not an option on the visual editor. It should be there.

19. If the image is too large for the tiny space we have, it looks really silly. It would be good if MyDDO would resize images or at least give us more room to write our blogs in. As it is, it's an headache to put a picture on the blog without resizing because most pictures are going to be larger than the room we have.

20. On top of featured blogs, there should be featured blog posts. Like, a really good post that you feel needs attention.

21. Pingbacks don't link to the blog post.

the whole thing seems pretty amatuerish to me. They don't even tell you what kind of upgrades you have on DT armor....

True. It has incredibly slow loading. I was hoping, at first, it was the load from launch but I am somehow doubting now.

I would also love to see a clear link to MyDDO guild pages on the front page, or even some indicator that such a thing exists.

That's a shame. Add some numbers to it? or some 'x's (ala xXBorror0Xx)?

I haven't touched my old hotmail account in forever. It's probably been deleted by now--the features and space gmail provides are just so far an away better than anything else, and, to reference another post of yours, FREE.

- Character log really should be in descending order with the latest being at the top.

- Links --> MyDDO --> Help --> Error! The page you were looking for was not found.

- There seems to be no way I can go directly to my own page without either bookmarking it or going via My Profile and then clicking on my player name. Edit: found that if I click my name at top of myDDO homepage i go to my page.

- The "edit my blog" link in the top right hand corner of my page allows me to click on parts of my page to edit them. But it does not save the changes, so I end up having to go to my profile to edit properly.

- I couldn't find out how a second gallery is displayed on my page or able to be navigated to. I will play more later with that.

- Character list. It really should list them in some kind of order. I suggest the categories be ordered:
*Primary character
*Publicly visible characters
*Rest of characters
and each category be ordered highest to lowest level character.

- Editing your avatar. Some sort of guideline should be given aka pixel dimensions or preferable file size. NVM but maybe you should class them as small vs large instead of main vs alternate.

Really? Because I've yet to receive a response to this thread or the 2 bug reports I've submitted. Seems to me adding posts to nudge the thread is the only way to get attention to a problem, and it still hasn't worked for me in over a week.

Pretty much makes the entire myDDO site useless to me.
