    Default Request Fishing Please!

I'm a ranger standing beside a perfect place to fish, however while a master of the outdoors it appears I have no ability to fish...This makes me sad.

While exploring I have found large numbers of awsome looking bodies of water.

Quests could be made to catch elusive or record sized fish, fishing poles, bait, tackle, etc could have various effects or +skill attached.

Thank you for your time, I hope to be able to fish in DDO someday soon.

    sounds like WOW.
actually, sounds like the most boring, time consuming and grindy part of it.

    Why?

Before you pitch an idea, make sure that it has something else behind it besides "it might be cool". Even if you think that its fun, make sure you justify why it is fun. Something fun to you might not be fun to others. Think about that, re-pitch your idea, and then post again for better feedback

    sounds like fun.

    Use em to craft:

    - potions of waterbreathing
    - fish stew (useable in taverns to recover hp)
    - potions of swimming
    - potions of natural armor +1
    - good luck fish (grants a 30 min +1 luck bonus- similiar to a house P buff)
    - Monster bait (grants a slight bonus to the chance to spawn a rare and generates more agro)
    - rotten fish oil (applies to self giving you a stench that "sickens" all next to you. duration: until rest)

I could think of more but this quick list will jump start others imaginations im sure.
Good idea and easy enough to add. Makes the world feel more alive and gives us stuff to do besides fighting.

+1 rep to the op for having an idea and presenting it.

How about instead we have hunting?. We could get:
    - potion of cure light wounds
    - stew (useable in taverns to recover hp)
    - potions of jump
    - potions of natural armor +1
    - good luck tooth (grants a 30 min +1 luck bonus- similiar to a house P buff)

    - rotten animal fat (applies to self giving you a stench that "sickens" all next to you. duration: until rest)

Sorry, but why fishing? the OP has yet to come up with a reason for fishing. You have invented reasons for him, and applied it to his idea.

A better idea would to give every class a separate set of skill points (which work the same way) that are expendable on different skills: hunting, fishing, etc. Then, using D20 mechanics, we can have an interesting system which gives items which benefit both combat and other "skills" alike.

I'm a rogue standing inside a lovely city that MUST house a taco truck, however while a master of the city it appears I have no ability to eat at a taco truck… This makes me sad.

While exploring Meridia I have found an awesome wagon that could be a disguised taco truck.

Quests could be made to catch regular or super burritos, carnitas, tacos, nachos, etc could have various effects or +skill attached.

Thank you for your time, I hope to be able to find a taco truck in DDO someday soon.

    Note: I am being a wise@$$, but not a jack@$$. There is a difference.

    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Sorry, but why fishing?

    Good idea. Why not both?

There was a game that got shelved years ago called "True Fantasy Live Online" that had real fishing, hunting and crafting and I very much wanted to play it.

Im not always in the mood for questing/killing but I do log on anyway. When this happens I check the AH, wander the marketplace, search for impossible to reach places, clean up my characters inventories and stuff like that.

Both fishing and hunting would be a great time sink and could expand on the crafting system.

Only thing with hunting is they might wanna add some edible type creatures because Im not looking forward to making stew out of orcs, kobolds, razorcats and dogs. scorpions? maybe......they do offer boiled scorpion in the desert, I even added it to my PNP game.... none of the players will eat it though....they think Im trying to kill them.

Yes, but first you have to camp mob spawns for twenty taco shells. Then, you have to collect five vegetables to chop up for toppings... and so on.

...and if I remember, it's incredibly underwhelming. (This post is not an argument against fishing in DDO.)

First, you have to mine the metal... then quest for Reynolds' Epic Hammer of Foil Flattening... then enchant it on the Alter of... then...

I woudl say fishing is one of those things that many would consider fluff, but has value to many gamers. At one point over the next year we will have enough lvl 20 content to beat out any other lvl range, simply because we have hit the cap and allt hey can give us at cap is lvl 22 content max maybe. That is where the extras come into play, to give us a little more to do besides questing

    Things like

    Fishing
    gambling
mini games ( the drinking game during the summer festival is awesome in lotro, you start at one tavenr and have to drink 1 drink and you have 1 minutes to get to the next tavern etc. But every drink youhave makes the screen blurrier and its harderto control your character.)
