Default Connection Failed: Couldn't initialize crypto API.

I'm running on a Windows XP laptop, any suggestions as to what the problem is?

Check your "Add or Remove Programs" (XP) or "Uninstall a Program" (Vista) control panel option for:

    Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
    and
Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB####)

(Game needs both 1.1 and the 1.1 "service pack").

If they're both listed try uninstalling them starting with 1.1 and then the "hotfix" and downloading and reinstalling them from the links below (if only one is listed uninstall just that one and then reinstall both):

    Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
    The 1.1 Service Pack (Hotfix)

If it keeps up though definitely open a support request.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I've been experiencing the same problem as well. I've attempted the following steps so far:

Uninstalled .Net Framework 1.1 and its hotfix. Rebooted.

Reinstalled .Net Framework 1.1 from the link provided. Rebooted.

Reinstalled the .Net Framework 1.1 hotfix, also from the link provided. Rebooted.

All of the above was done while logged in as an administrator. The problem still persists, unfortunately.

Bump, would really like to see this solved. Trying to get a friend to play and hes uninstalled all .net and installed 1.1 and the patch, disabled uac and is running as a admin.

Such a good game so far, was going to subscribe to vip when my friend stated playing, but he can't even log in. Going to lose not just one but two potential subscribers.

Same problem... I'm close to calling it quits. I'm unintalling .NET Framework and the game to see if that works, in the meantime, bumping the thread in hopes of a solution.

Anyone get word on what will fix this? This problem has been around for a bit and yet it seems as if nothing has been done to correct it.

    Default finally gave up

After trying several times to get help and coming close to throwing my computer through the window, I decided this isn't worth the frustration if they aren't willing to correct it themselves. Too bad I was looking forward to trying out this game.
