sorc spells?

okies its being a while now since i was last playing my sorc. The endless wait between mod 8 and 9 kinda sucked the will to play high lvl right out of me

however, i'm back thinking about my forgotten sorc once more. much has changed no doubt regarding the must have spells. I fully realiase that i might have weeks of spell swapping before i can really bring this character back to the table again but thats ok, i got the time and the plat to do it


so.....


Whats the must haves these days?? and what can i safely cast from scrolls without troubles??

You can safely scroll cast: Enervation, Waves of Fatigue, Greater Heroism (useless in Shavarath).

All the spells you have now are probably still good, but make sure you have:

• Solid or Acid Fog
• Displacement
• Finger of Death
• Flesh to Stone

You also want to take energy drain. It is your most important lvl 9 spell. Wail of the Banshee is fun too.

fully agreed the four spells and energy drain and banshee are needed. for SF/AF, you should get one but I personally dislike to use them unless it is absolutely necessary. It seems Devil/Orthons are not slowed down by it. And it makes the fight in a mess.

For Flesh-to-Stone, it was not mandatory in mod 8 imho, but it is a must in mod 9. People probably won't bring you in Tower of Despair for the 2nd time if they know you don't have FtS.

i've got the 4 spells listed bit not acid fog.

I'll log on tonight (havent had a chance to pla ythe sorc for a while, he) and get a list of all my spells as i cant fully remember which ones i've got.

I expect a fair few will probly need changing on various lvls.

okies heres the spells i have atm, hows this stack up by todays standards?

lvl 1
jump, magic missile, merfolks blessing, nightshield

lvl 2
blur, resist energy, scorching rya, web

lvl 3
displacement, fireball, haste, protection from energy

lvl 4
dimension door, enervation, solid fog, wall of fire

lvl 5
ball lightning, cloud kill, cone of cold, mind fog

Lvl 6
disintergrate, flesh to stone, greater heroism

lvl 7
banishment, finger of death, ottos dancing ball

lvl 8
polar ray, mass charm monster

i have GH in the list simply cause i love those free loot runs vs hoping i make back the scroll costs

Just because your icon looks like GH does not make it the same. The # 1 reason most people wanted GH even if they had good hope was for the fear immunity. The fake GH from shav only gives a + save bounes to fear not immunity.
