Parental DDOers?

I have been very impressed by DDO and the DDO Shop "it's here if you want, but you're not forced." set up. So much so that I think it is safe to say that I will be playing regularly.

The biggest problem I had was paying multiple monthly subscriptions. My first child is due in the spring and so I was faced with giving up playing MMO's or playing ones that I wasn't enjoying (Guild Wars for example.) When I found out about DDO being free to play, and then found that actually, it's really good - woo! I'm not sure who was happier - me as I get to play a good MMO without the bonds of a monthly subscription, or my wife and baby-to-be.

So I'm putting this "out there." Are there any other parents or parents-to-be that play DDO? Any advice for a first timer?

My advice is only play when the kids are asleep or at school, etc.. Keep your kids first as much as you can...

play toons that dont have a big roll to play . rangers are good .
nothing like the orthons poping in VoD and everyone runing around w8ting for the intim to get them undercontroll on to finde that it was his turn to change the baby ....

Yes, the times of not sleeping because your infant isn't sleeping through the night will pass. You get a brief respite before you get the times of not sleeping because your teeaged son/daughter is out ontheir first date/with friends/prom and lord only knows what they are doing.

When your kids get old enough to want to mess with your characters, make them some of their own - I find warforged are popular among the preschool types who like to jump off stuff and swim around the harbor
