    Default .NET 1.1 issue

Alright, so when I launch DDO I get this error:

I do not have 1.0 or 1.1 installed on my machine. I do have 2.0, 3,0, and 3.5 though.

I went to the microsoft website and downloaded the installers and I get these errors, in the order shown here:

Clicking 'Retry' does nothing. So when I hit cancel I get:

I only blacked out my name so you're not missing anything important.

For reference I installed these two installers:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I have followed this guide in an attempt to fix it even though it is for Win7:

If anyone has any insight of can help out I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I wish i did, I get a totally different error
but it looks like the error happens in a temporary folder, did you try deleting it?
its also a good idea to post any research you've done on the topic because tech support agents apparently never come here.

I've made a similar thread thats been mostly ignored

Well that temp folder is created when I try to install. It just disappears when I cancel the install.

Getting .net 1.1 code working on 2.0 and above is a simple matter and was done by most developers the second the 2.0 beta was released. It is highly perplexing why Turbine never updated their software in the many years since 1.1 was dropped. I imagine this will become more of an issue next month when the world starts its move over to Windows 7 which will no doubt break even more of Turbines software. All we can hope for is a response from the devs, and a patch in the upcoming update.

We're looking into the issue. In the past users who encountered problems installing .net 1.1 have had success removing .net 2.0, installing .net 1.1, then re-installing .net 2.0.

In vista, 2.0 cannot be uninstalled, it's built into the system, I've used the cleen up tool numerous times and have had no success installing,

    >>what's the problem? I've installed .NET Framework 1.1 so many times before from same WPI config.js script with the same cmdline syntax. Only it humiliates me so much.

    >>BTW, when wpi.cmd and cleanup.cmd completes their task and machine restarts from cleanup.cmd, after desktop loads, i double-clicked my DOTNETFW.EXE, and it installed without any error.
I've encountered what seems to be several CMD commands, but i have no idea what they do or how they work, if anyone does that would be awesome, /g/ predictably would rather baww at troll threads.

    Default not likely

    9.9.10

I was having problems getting LotR to install-run and the CS advised to delete/uninstall .NET Framework 1.1 hotfix1.1 and 2.0.
That destroyed my Wxp pro OS and messed up ability to play other games. I could not reinstall 1.1 nor 2.0 (i.e even though i had 3.0 sp2 and 3.5 sp1 still installed).

    ...

I had to wipe the hard drive and clean install the OS again, after over 120 security updates i finally got my system functional again and can play games fine now. I have avoided Turbine untill now trying the ftp DDO.
but am having problems with it in game (i.e. big geometric blocks of brown obscuring the display) and today on trying to log-in am getting
    Game Error [122]
X No suitable graphics device was found. are you running through a remote session or a VM? If not, please check your video hardware capabilities. [122] OK

So, i suggest it is NOT your system that is messed up, especially if you can play other DX9c games fine, but something seriously wrong with Turbine's games.

Removing .NET 1.1 and 2 (that works fine in everything except Turbine games) and then trying a bogus reinstall from MS, i doubt will fix a problem that is at Turbine's end.

    Wxp pro sp2, A64x2 3800+, ATI 1950 pro 256MB, 2GB ddr1, +20 GB free space on hd partition.

guys, check out this post i found. it's a workaround to install the 1.1 and 1.1 SP1 frameworks on vista setup.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/1...e-fails-error/

i've installed 1.1 successfully. hopefully ddo now works.

honestly though, it's already 2009... turbine should definitely patch this already. >.<

edit: yep the launcher just came to life. sticky anyone?

Didn't work for me. I'm on Windows 7, I uninstalled .NET 2.0, then re-ran the hi-res installer, re-ran the netfx.msi slipstreamed file (at this point, I realized that before it's done, it rolls back the whole thing, which the original dotnetfx.exe does, too). No dice. I have no clue what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?
