I have been having a similar issue with losing connection for about a month now. Never got the free edition. I actually bought the box. Now my 30 days sub is all gone and no resolutions to be had

Try the steps here and the connection related ones here. But if it keeps up definitely open a support request as troubleshooting connection issues can often require more indepth troubleshooting than can be performed on the forums.

NOTE: The Customer Support forums are best for Player-to-Player help, for more direct and official support, please submit a ticket to the appropriate team via the form here.

After contacting support, log into your email webpage to add noreply@turbine.com and accountsupport@turbine.com to their "safe senders" list and your contacts list/address book. Be sure to check Spam/Junk Mail folders as well since most email providers do not let external email programs or cell phones download mail flagged this way.

I did try that but error continues to appear. I have installed ddo both on win xp and win 7 both fully updated an got same problem. I can get to http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/Service.asmx web service and run it using IE8. So I believe that there is problem either with web service or with .Net framework although I will try today to run ddo on my brother’s box and check what is happening.
    Regards,
    Adam

Dont know if this is any help, but i just download LOTR online just because it uses the same program to login/start.
This game worked perfectly, and since it also uses the same launcher thingie, could it not be possible that the ddolauncher we have is not fully functioning? because of all the error messages u get when u try to press any of the buttons, it cannot connect whatsoever and theres no problem with connections/firewalls considering it worked fine with lotr which uses the same programs? id say we got a fked up ddolauncher...

I to also have this problem of not being able to connect. If I click on any of the buttons such as "support, turbine" or any other it brings up a error and closes the client. It has nothing to do with the connection the error is clearly a sign that software is not working properly on turbine end and possibly more to do with NET Framework 1.1 and Vista/Win 7. I have two computers and same issue. Done everything suggested with the firewalls, exceptions, turning them off. No luck.

Same problem here! All I could guess from this point is because of the last maintenance. That a lot of things in the game went loopy or some said. All we can do for now is to wait for the next maintenance or patch. T^T

I think I know what to do now. While looking back at my set up files. Dnd1 through Dnd 6 should have a file of 666000 except 7 because its understandable being the last part. But I noticed that my file on Dnd1 is only 665093 and that must be the problem. Our downloads went awry somehow and didn't download some files.

Only conclusion I can think of is to re-download the files.
