OP, it depends on the weapon type and the elemental effect on it but it basically doubles your DPS at low levels so they're highly desirable. Dorf axes, rapiers, khopeshes, great axes and I'm guessing greatswords and scimitars now, are gonna be worth a lot of money.
So if you pick up a race required holy or elemental burst khopesh, you should probably keep it.
Some toons with Cow in the name, and some without.
For new players all I can do is recommend you do the new Coin Lord chain quest in the Marketplace. A full party of 3's can easily do it I'm pretty sure, especially after they fix scaling.
The second to last and last part of the chain offer +1 elemental weapons with a second descriptor.
Are they the most uber possible? No. But, they will save you some cash if you don't have a sponsor.
If you're lucky you can get two nicked shortswords in the same run. I was able to get two nicked kamas (+1, shock, tendon slice) and that's good enough until I can find shocking burst myself, or in the house D vendor.
hm, this thread is still around?
Well anyway, I just got the buy of the century, talk about under priced. I just bought a Ghost Touched of Pure Good +1 Heavy Mace on Khyber for only 24k(That's like the "perfect" Catacombs weapon).
In other news, I was able to buy a Shocking Tender slice Scimitar(yea, not the best secondary ability or weapon type for that matter, but for under 20k, I'll take it, not like I need it lol, my old char had like 4 elemental weapons, so he just tranfered them to my new char, along with other goodies, like +3 Mythral Fullplate, and such).

I love those who have so much plat they can't see why someone who is new or doesn't have 5 plat capped alts would have an issue with the prices.
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!
Go for the eyes Boo!
There is no issue with prices. There is only an issue with entitlement. No one is entitled to uber equipment to start. The game is NOT designed that way. The game is designed in such a way that if you want to get better.. you work for it. Isn't that an essential aspect of D&D? If you want great equipment.. then work for it. If you want to be able to afford stuff on the auction house.. then work for it.
Even if you had all the best equipment possible for your level, that does not mean your toon will be successful in the long run. Knowing how to play your toon and knowing how to build your toon will determine your success. You will only get this at... shocking. work.

Yes, people can see where one would have an issue with prices....
What is laughable is to suggest that plat farmers are the cause, and that one server is somehow immune to platfarmers, or better than other servers, in terms of platfarmers. I can explain if you like, but I hope it's easy enough to understand without an explanation.
