    Default Game crash on start-up

Alright well first off let me say I have not been able to get into this game once yet. When I try to start the game, I log in, pick my server, try to run both without and with dx10 then launch... A few seconds later after seeing the intro for a tiny bit the game then closes down. I am running on 32bit vista with an ATI HD Radeon 4670 at 1440x900 res.

I just now saw this as well...

"A running program isn't compatible with certain visual elements of windows."

Uhhh? Does this game not support Vista32?

Edit: Is there a way to run the game without playing the intro? I have a feeling that the crash is being caused by the intro movie. Why? Because I've actually had this issue with another game before.

I almost certain that Vista+Intro=crash, because I have Vista, and the game actually DID work for me earlier. Now, it crashes right at the intro's start.

Yah, I found out yesterday but was not able to update my thread because of the site going off and on and lagging like crazy... But yup, the intro video was the cause. I am now happily playing with the highest gfx, dx10 enabled... I just find it funny how I can play this game at its best yet can't watch a simple intro video.

I highly suggest a new option to disable the intro video from playing in either the launchers options or the game options. That way after you bypass the crash from hitting ENTER 1000 times you can turn it off and no longer have to grind your finger into dust from all the button mashing...

How did you end up bypassing the intro movie? I have the exact same setup as you, and thus the same problem. I also assume your running the Hi-res version. Thanks.

Edit: Continually pressing Enter worked.. incredible fix. Game looks awesome.

    Thumbs up It Works!

So glad I found this thread, I played this game for a couple hours last night and it worked great. I did change my resolution so that probably caused this problem, but spamming enter worked like a charm. Thank you

Ok, I'm having the same problem..... how many times do you have to hit the enter key? Of course, it may just be that my rig is too old to run this game in the first place.

    Default Same Problem

I have the same problem. The video crashes do to a Codec issue, I wish they would let you disable videos or something from the launcher cause it seems like alot of people are having this problem, I don't remember the codec name but it's been causing problems with videos in other games to. My machine is abit older, and so is the graphics card but when I can play the game is actually pretty nice and runs pretty smooth. It just crashes cause of that video at the start.

I did try the hitting enter over and over and that seems to work, course now I have no audio or ground textures after the full install finished >.<

I found a way to turn it off on vista 32.

    Start/Documents/Dungeons and Dragons Online/UserPreferences

    Find where it says "ShowIntroMovie=True"

    Change True to False.

    "ShowIntroMovie=False"

And it doesn't show the intro.

I had the same problem that you detailed.
Now I can play the game, but when I finish the first little dungeon with my rogue. It crashes when I leave the cave
    =(
