    Default My first attempt

    Hey all,

This is my first attempt at multi classing and I have a few ideas I would like to pass by to see how viable they are or if I am just wasting my time.

    Here goes;

    My thought is 17 cleric/1 fighter/2 rogue

1 Fighter I am thinking of taking because I want to use a 2 handed sword for dps and extra feat

2 Rogue for search, spot and unlock

    17 Cleric is self explanitory

    or

    18 Cleric / 2 Rogue

Same reasons as above but just take broad sword feat without level in fighter

    or

    17 cleric/ 1 fighter/ 2 rogue

same as above but go 2 weapon fighting for dps

    or

    18 cleric / 2 rogue

same as above but go 2 weapon fighting for dps with no fighter splash for extra feat

I usually like running alone or with a friend from time to time. So I am trying to make something a little universal. So I can get secrets and locked chests when I am alone. Also I heard use magical device is useless nless you max it out. Is this true?

    Thanx for any advice

Rogue/cleric is a bad mix. They need different key stats so you will not be at your best as either a rogue or cleric. It's just not a good idea.

For a fighting cleric either go pure cleric or cleric19/1ftr (feat + weapons) or clr19/1monk (feat plus AC bonus).

As for the secrets and locked chests, there just aren't enough to matter to be worth sacrificing your abilties as a cleric.

Many people have created succesful Cleric/Rogue mixes. Its not as far fetched as it seems. Spot is Wisdom based. Clerics get "Find Traps" which can add 9 more points to ones Search Skill. My Cleric Rogue will be 18/2 and is currently sitting at an easy to obtain 64 Disable Device and 56 Search. More than enough for everything shes run into. ANd I'm not using any House D Potions to hit those numbers.

Here is a rogue cleric that works:
    Human

    18 wis
    14 con
    16 intel

    concentration
    search
    disable
    UMD (half then top up)

You can't fit two handed sword and your dex save wont be good so you will need insightful reflexes but it works as an all around support bot.

For two handed sword consider a favored soul warforged. Again no dex save for evasion so no synergy unless you decide to go two weapon fighting drow or elf or halfling
