Cool Tips and tricks for new/old content in DDO! HELP OUT!

*Discliamer I searched for a thread like this and couldn't find one, so I apologize if there is one*

So after the last couple of days, I think we (those who have more time to play/been in DDO for a while) could share a couple of the hints/tricks you have picked up along the way. Just so returning, new, or people that just don't have the time to play don't get too lost. In hopes that this might help the quality of PuG's even a little.

This is just a short list of what I have seen, and I'm sure they have been posted before:

    1. Devil Battlefield is very DPS oriented. A high AC Intimidate player really needs to be on his/her game or they will get chewed up. Damage mitigation is nice too if it can be fit in. Right now it can also be very expensive for clerics, so help out as much as you can.

    2. Displacement, Displacement, Displacement. 50% chance to miss. Don't leave the portal without it! This is very important in the new high level content.

    3. Teamwork. Whether it's Zerging through or crawling, everyone has to be on the same page or you'll start hear the dings of deaths very rapidly.

    4. If you don't know the Quest, mention that before you start the quest so people can be prepared to explain things more throughly.

    5. Once you can start to afford it, buy potions for Curse/Remove Fear/Disease/Resists/Procs/etc, etc. They will really help out. If you a melee of any sort, I recommend carrying at least 1 stack of 100 CSW pots, if not 2.

So those are a few I can think of..Feel free to add, correct me!

I am a player has not really hit any content above lvl 6 and as a new player it would help if people that give advice didn't use acronyms without an explanation what they are for, like 100 CSW pots.

This post is a good idea and I will be watching to see if anyone posts any good advice.

CSW pots = Cure Serious Wounds potions. I wouldnt bother with those, they just take up inventory space. Just buy a rez cake from the store when you die. It would be nice to have some click to purchase button for those we could map to our hotbar or something.

I would say a simple cast of ottos irresitible on an orthon or other monster pretty much makes it stop attacking with a 100% miss chance. But agree displacement is great too since most break up and run around crazy like and leave too many monsters alive at once.

I also think it is time some people thought about things like trip, crippling, slowburst, stat damage other than w/p, destruction, shattermantle, tendon slice, etc and all those neat little things that can make a mob easy to defeat and attack less. Most weapons have those little things added to them in some way. Take advantage of them.

Amazing to see 4 fighters with two weapons each go into a fray with 8 to 10 orthons and devils swinging the vorpals and w/p while taking HUGE damage when instead a few swings with alternative weapons in one hand could seriously slow down the attacks and movements of those buggers, if not outright stun/curse/etc them.

Nope..they just go toe to toe and use attrition and cleric mana until the mob is stunned or vorpaled.

DPS is important, but fighter crowd control, used efffectively, is absolute pawnage with large mobs.

DOH, didn't even think about that. Sorry!

New players aren't going to necessarily want to spend a whole bunch on cash for DDO points, Even 500/mo won't get you too many rez cakes. Potions are good for healing in-between fights but it's all really in your play style preference.

This works really well until endgame content. While I am no where near an expert at casters, the monsters saves seem to negate Otto's 95% of the time (heightened Web seems to work better or this just may be due to most casters having a bit lower level for now). Gianthold, Vale and all those areas really benefit from it.

Considering the Cleaving Orthons do CC is golden, the issue is making it stick. I am anxious to get my "gimp" Monk out there. He has Paralyzing - Weighted handwraps and swings so quickly that while he is not doing a ton of damage(Holy Burst handwraps help) he can actually get things to Paralyze and occasionally stuns them.

My Rogue wears the Destruction breastplate from the Hound to drop ACs a bit while swinging and of course he slowly damages Str as well. Hopefully that helps us hit and not get hit as hard. I've debated on something like Cursespewing for his offhand but I haven't found a good solid Axe for that yet.
