Red face Lvl3 Cleric new to game-- confused

Just started playing this game this week on Cannith so I'm really trying to get the feel for my lvl 3 clerics role in these wam-bam group quests that I'm doing in the harbor area.

First off I know primary job is to try to keep everyone alive However- some things I'm not so sure I like (or just confused) in my first few levels of playing:

First this is really is a newbie question: I'm confused about how death works..
I'm watching my parties hit-bars and healing as needed, when things go bad (hard, elite) and someone's hit points go to 0; they are not dead till they go negative (so I can still bring them back, right?) When they really ARE dead (red name in UI), can I ever rez them with a spell?

Is the only way to rez in instances to carry the party members stone to the shrine? Can I carry my own? As a ghost in these new (for me) early quests it's REALLY difficult wondering around WW trying to figure out where/what I need to do to get rez or rez someone.

Mind you- these have mainly been PUGS with little chat/communication-- seems like most folks on this server are old-timers who know these quests like the back of their hand and our going for the EXP ASAP.

Perhaps when the server opens to more newbies-- guess I'm just wondering if this wam-bam running thru these instances like WW so fast I can't hardly keep up (let alone heal everyone) is the norm as I get to more advanced areas-- or just a factor of the experienced folks on this server..

The whole death/rez in instances is the real question..

Besides that- having fun with this game-- the character building is lots of fun with many complex D&D elements makes it a nice change from the typical mmos out there now.

    Thanks!

From 0 to -9 they are "unconcious" but can be healed. At -10 or less they die. You won't be able to get a spell to raise them until...I think its L9. Until that point someone needs to pick up the soul stone dropped when they die and take them to a rez shrine (the red flame thing next to the blue rest shrine).

Oh, and a general rule on a cleric, "I can't heal heal stupid and I can't heal what I can't see". If they zerg ahead and leave you behind any death is their fault, not yours

    Welcome to the game

At 0 to -9 hp characters are incapacitated adn can be revivied with a simple cure wounds spell. At -10 or below they are dead. You will be able to cast Raise Dead at level 9 (it is a level 5 spell) but scrolls will work well for you at level 8. There are three clerical spells that raise the dead: Raise Dead, Resurrection and True Resurrection, the differences lie in how many hp the recently raised have. There are also a few items that can do this as well with a spell clicky, including ones that you can custom build later on.

    Default Rez in instances

When you die at the lower levels you will need to have your stone carried to a shrine or if you ann make it before rubberbanding back you can run to a shrine. Beginning at level 9 a cleric can memorize the spell Raise Dead and be able to rez another character with a spell. Prior to that the Cleric an use a Raise Dead Scroll with a percentage chance at success.

As for rushing through the quests. For more experienced players this can be the norm. I have found however, that if you let it be known when you join the party that you are new you will usually find someone in the party will help you along when you are having difficulties.

At 0 to -9 hp a person is incapacitated. A healing spell will get them back into the fight. If nothing is done they will bleed out 1 hp every 6 seconds unless the stabilize. Their name will be pink if they are incapped.

At -10 hp or more they are dead. They will need to be brought back to life.

At lower levels the only option is a shrine, unless rez cakes are bought from the eStore. They are red colored ones.

At level 7 you will be able to use raise dead scrolls which can be purchased at the House J arcane shop.

At level 9 you will get the raise dead spell.

A person can wander around in ghost form but they there's a limit to how far they can go from their stones. If someone dies, grab their stone and carry them near a shrine.

In most cases just mention that you're a new player and the more experienced players will tend to slow down and guide you through the quests.

Later on you get raise dead and resurrection spells, as well as can use raise dead/rez scrolls - though they are expensive. I don't know if you've ever PnP'ed D&D, but the game is not like the pencil and paper version in a lot of ways so it's important to read through the forums to pick up some good general advice on any class you want to play. Your first character will really be an experiment, and you'll be doing a lot of things wrong as you go, but chalk it up to a learning experience. And don't be afraid to tell people you group with your new and learning. Some groups expect that you know what you're doing all around, but most will happily teach you as you go. And remember as a cleric, they need you more than they need you, so set the pace.

Thanks for all the great replies!

That's one thing about this community- /advice in game and your forums help is great..

Yeah- letting the party know I'm learning (hopefully they could figure it out.. and not think I was just dense ) would be a good idea...

If you happen to be an elf, you can get a rez at lvl 6. Most go with Unyielding Soveriegnty even if they are an elf, but it is an option.
