A cleric can, I see no reason why a FS can't

Check your armor proficiencies at 1st level, and if you are proficient with heavy armor, it's a good bet you are ok.

Divine Spellcasters can cast in whatever armor they want, the single exception to this is druids.

This means Clerics, Favored Souls, Rangers, and Paladins can cast in full plate, if they want to, despite that FvS and Rgr don't have heavy armor proficiency.

I can definetly confirm that they can. My newly born warforged soul took adamantine body and can cast in it just fine.

As others have explained, you can cast spells in any armor.

However, it's still not really a good idea to take a fighter level. The advantage you gain from heavy armor will be small to nonexistent, and a Favored Soul already is proficient with a weapon that you get bonuses with. To use any other weapon would mean passing up the bonuses, and why would you want to do that?

well, the only logical reasons for a fighter dip would be for 2 feats, 1 str, and possibly a few random enhancments..
Tho it still looks like the monk synergy is hard to resist.

I started in a dedicated group with 5 friends last night, and rolled a battle FvS.

The idea is to buff the party and keep a constant Divine Power on myself, while being at the front line. Spot healing and top ups too. I rolled a Drow with 16 str, 12 con, 13 dex, 8 wis, 10 int and 16 cha.
I wont be using offensive spells (FvS healer/nuker in the party) just buffs and heals as above.

I am going to take a level of fighter for the feats, toughness enhancements and Str enhancements. And heavy armour as I am not a dex build.
As it is a dedicated group with strictly no AH usage, we need to use the loot we find or can get from vendors.
I may or may not take bastard sword prof. depending on what we find by the time I hit level 4 when I will take my single fighter level.

Level 3 will be extend spell for 6 minute buffs and 84second Divine Powers'.

It's a fun build so far. Gimped or not no rerolls!

Rest of party is a WF Paladin, Human twf fighter, FvS healer/nuker and wiz/rogue.

I took a Human Favoured Soul and took Heavy Armour as my bonus racial feat. It worked fine. I've since rereolled and took Mental Toughness instead. These days I'd probably only take heavy armour if I solo a lot, there didn't seem all that much of a benefit. Having more spell points seems a better option at the moment.

Ah yes, how stupid of me.

The way I am going now, I wont bother with a level of fighter now. Maybe Mithral full plate.

Although your dex is a little low, you might be better off going with a monk instead of a fighter. You still get bonus feats and the benefit of almighty evasion as well as adding your wisdom bonus to AC.
