Big hiccup is the 965 Integrated Graphics. I would recomend going up to 4 gigs of Ram.

at 1024x768 you should be able to play at low-med settings ok.

I used to play on my old laptop (1gb of RAM, a Core Duo 1.8ghz, and Intel 945 graphics) with textures on high detail and mostly everything else turned all the way down - his laptop is a lot better so he should for sure be fine.

Thanks guys. I'll let him know to start downloading the Standard Client.

Any other gotchas or comments on his laptop. I don't know if he can upgrade anything in it... I'm not a laptop guy... I have a gaming rig at home I play on.

That graphics chipset doesn't natively support Hardware Transform & Lighting (most emulate it through the drivers in a "software" mode).

If he gets a 122 error at launch then its not emulating it have him get the most updated drivers he can from either the laptop maker or Intel.

Intel chipsets and Hardware T&L information

NOTE: The Customer Support forums are best for Player-to-Player help, for more direct and official support, please submit a ticket to the appropriate team via the form here.

After contacting support, log into your email webpage to add noreply@turbine.com and accountsupport@turbine.com to their "safe senders" list and your contacts list/address book. Be sure to check Spam/Junk Mail folders as well since most email providers do not let external email programs or cell phones download mail flagged this way.

Well done, Mirthgar. You get the first piece of positive rep ever handed out to a Turbine employee from me.

I've noticed a marked improvement regarding customer service on the forums, mostly you and Victorie. Keep it up, it is greatly appreciated.
