Unhappy Iron Maw / Bastion quest...

Did this last night, must say that IMHO this one will give Coal Chamber a run for the money on dumbest quest design ever.

    - Yet more multi-level stuff with barred doors so the map is useless...
    - Portalling doors (a la tempest spine) that bounce you around the map that aren't labeled on the map...
    - Unlimited respawns from portals that have no discernible purpose...
    - 4 red names at the end that all respawn to full health while still inside their initial agro range...

    Interesting...

We seemed to just sail through the whole thing and had a great time doing it. Lots of chests, lots of shrines. Missed out on that last chest, though.

Oh, I have no doubt it will be an easy loot run once we figure out the pattern (mass invis, zerg), but the design of the quest is just very poor IMO.

Yeah, there definitely has to be some winning strategies for this one other than the straight beat-down method.

Didn't really mind the teleporty doors, but maps that just overlay themselves are super-annoying. But then again, after you've been through it once or twice the map isn't really going to be needed anyway.

Really, if devils could only just teleport a single time (or have a big timer on their teleorting) I think I would enjoy all of this new content an awful lot more.

I think they need to add a new spell, an AoE, about the size of prismatic pattern, that prevents Teleporting. They can run out of and port, but can't port while in the area. I think this would be an easy and solid solution to the popping devils that so many hate.

    Oooh, an Anti-Teleportation field.

I would like to go on the record and voice: Bastion of Power is the most awesome quest I've ever experianced in DDO!

It's called Dimensional Anchor - now if only they'd implement it.

Take down a portal whenever you see one. No more unlimited respawns!

4 red names? Isn't just the Horned Devil then a Marilith? Also, didn't have any issues with them respawning to full health - do you mean that they had a short tether or something? If so, just don't run away from them.

Long ass annoying quest, worth like 6k xp - 8k with bonuses.

    8k for a level 19 quest?

Oh yeah and ac apparently doesnt matter now either 65 ac and was getting hit seemingly 90% of the time. So much for spending 3 years building ac builds.

I liked that quest. I like 3rd Legion the best (minus the end fight, which I still don't fully understand), but that quest is a close second.

The only thing I didn't like is someone got locked out of the last fight and then we couldn't figure out how to open it again. So they lost out on 3 chests. Seems like a pretty stupid mechanic, but maybe we missed some obvious solution. Anyone know?

3 Horned devils sequentially - new one spawns when you kill the first.

Super short tether. We stepped in, the door closed behind us, she came over so we started beating on her. She got to about 10%, then tethered without really moving.

Are you talking about hard or elite? I've ran this quests 3 times on normal and there's only been one horned devil and one marilith.

    Yep
(with the exception of the first one at the entrance)

In fact, you can sometimes beat down a portal without even agroing the devils.
(and I'll bet with a little practice I could get that up to all the time)

They do have a short tether.

Personally, I think the quest will be easy once people know it a little better.

(think I got all the chests)

I think I did see her jump back up to full health with no reason. Might be a bug.
But she does tether back near the door.
