    Question Hangs at Examine Programs

    Ok, I can not log into the live server because I get stuck at "Examine Programs" I can play on the Lamania server with no problem.
    I have tried to run the TurbineRegisterGDF file. When I run that file I get an error message saying it "loaded the patchWrapper.dll but that DLLunregisterserver failed with an error code of 0x80070005"
    however I then get a prompt "DllregisterServer in PatchWrapperPS.dll suceeded"

    Anyone else in this predicament? It seems to have started after the update to Lamania, which caused a lot of problems, Wednesday. Need to get this cleared up with the release coming soon.
    Should I go ahead and reinstall?

    I'd give the manual command prompt steps outlined here a try, if you keep getting that error though you might need to turn off UAC (User Account Control) temporarily.

    Steps to disable UAC

    Disable it, reboot when prompted and after rebooting try the steps in that post again.

    Becoming concerned here. This is not working & I would really like to be able to play. Have not been able to log into live server since last Wednesday. I have followed all of the instructions but nothing is working. I have reinstalled the game but can not play. I have uninstalled lama and TDM, nothing works.

    "The module PatchWrapper.dll failed to load
    Make sure the binary is stored at the specific path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files.
    The specified module could not be found"

    how about some direct support instead of posting to the forum which takes a day or two on the turnaround.

    Oh good, now it just stops at first load screen, opening main forms and then fades away and stops working. Have to open task manager to end program.

    How about instructions to take this all the way down and start over from scratch?

    I'd definitely recommend opening a support ticket if you have not yet already, it sounds like there may be some additional system issues occurring that may be the root cause.

    Usually getting stuck on Opening Main Form should be fixed by re-running TurbineRegisterGDF but if its not it may be .Net I'd try opening the "Uninstall a Program" list in the Vista control panel and looking for "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1" and "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 (Hotfix)” and uninstall both of them starting with "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1" and then the Hotfix (Which should error out, but will remove itself from the list) and then download and reinstall them:

    Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1


    The 1.1 Service Pack (Hotfix)

    If its still not working after those are reinstalled definitely follow up with a support request ticket.

    That did not help. Already working a support ticket but turnaround is too long. Wow turnaround is not too long, got a reply in less than 15 minutes on the last issue. Great job guys/gals really appreciate it.

    I'm having this exact same problem. After downloading and installing Lamania I can no longer play the main game. I have done everything that has been suggested (even uninstalled .net framework 3.5 as well as 1.1 then reinstalling the 1.1 I'm not sure what 3.5 is). I've also tried uninstalling main and Lamania and reinstalling just the main game and not Lamania. Still not working. Oh and I've had UAC disabled since I got this computer. I made a ticket a few days ago. First response was fast but pretty much just said what Mirthgar said. I responded back saying it didn't work and no reply yet. I'm getting more frustrated as the days go by.

    I've tried everything I can think of and none of my friends have any idea what to do either. The only thing I can think of that would do it would be to completely reinstall windows but I don't have a windows disk (vista came with PC, unless I can use that upgrade disk that was in with it to reinstall). So unless support can help me somehow I'm going to have to stop playing DDO not because I don't want to but because I can't.

    Yeah, i've been having the same problem as well. It seems to have happened ever since the Lamania beta install. I'm gonna open a ticket as well.

    Funny, while I was typing this, I got it to work. I have tried several reinstalls but it kept getting stuck on the splash screen, or the screen would just fade out and then nothing. I uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled from the turbine download manager this time. So far I've only been able to get into character creator (all I have downloaded) but considering that I couldn't even get to a log in screen before, I'd say its good progress.

    I had the same problem..what solved it for me was:
    1) Goto "Documents"(vista) or "My Documents"(winxp) folder & then your "DungeonsDragonsOnline" folder
    1) Delete the UserPreferences.ini file in your DungeonsDragonsOnline folder in your Documents/MyDocuments folder
    2) Rerun TurbineLauncher & click "NO" when it asks you to enable Directx10 graphics..game will then work..if not, reboot & try it follow the same steps (it may need a fresh reboot)

    It seems Directx10 & the prompter is causing it to hang.. only by disabling Direcrtx10 did it work (after rebooting)

    Try it & tell me if it solves it for you
