Default FvS wis vs cha confusion

    I'm sorry..but I'm super confused....

Most of the builds I've seen seem to stress Wisdom as an important stat..why is that?

    From the compendium it says
    Caster Type: Arcane
Spell Casting: Charisma determines how powerful a spell a Favored Soul can cast, how many spells they can cast, and how hard those spells are to resist.
Is it misleading? Does Cha not determine "how hard those spells are to resist'"?

I must be missing something..please enlighten me.

    Okay, i did find this
    Important stats:
Charisma is the most important stat for favored souls. High charisma grants a favored soul access to higher level spells and gives him or her more spell points.

Wisdom is also important for favored souls, especially those who want to use offensive spells, because wisdom determines how difficult a favored soul's spells are for enemies to resist.
    So which is it?

The past is history, tomorrow a mystery, but today is a gift, that's why it's called the 'present'.

Don't argue with me! My diplomacy is +1 more than yours.

the first quote is from further down under Basic Information.
I suppose it should be corrected

charisma is only for casting spells and your sp
with a starting cha of 12 you can easily get those 19 which you need to cast lvl9 spells
that is more then enough as each chamodifier is just 29sp at cap

wisdom is needed for you DCs and thats why its more important

14 makes the "natural" 19 CHA possible. Not sure how you can squeeze 12 CHA "easily" to 19.

    Items Count.

    12
    6 Item
    3 FvS Enh
    2 Capstone
    1 Tome
    ---
    24 CHR

So you could actually start with a 8 and still be able to cast all spells quite easily withough even using any tomes.

Yes, it is misleading for the Compendium to label charisma as the most important casting statistic for a favored soul. Here's why.

A typical character's casting stat plays three important roles. First, it determines spell DCs and hence how likely it is that each casting of a given spell will be effective. Second, it influences how many spell points you have. Finally, it determines whether you are eligible to cast spells of a particular level.

Now let's split those functions up, as a favored soul does. If you fail to max out CHA, you lose a relatively modest number of spell points and don't typically lose any spell eligibility at all (because of the presence of items and enhancements). If you fail to max out WIS, however, you find yourself largely unable to affect enemies with your spells because they're constantly making their saves.

Turbine looked at this calculation and concluded that CHA is the most important casting stat. When most players look at it, they reach the opposite conclusion -- and as a general rule, they're right. If you want to have any offensive-casting power at all, you have little choice but to favor WIS rather than CHA.

If you don't *care* about your offensive-casting power, perhaps because you are planning to be a pure healbot, then wisdom recedes in importance and you may want to favor CHA for the spell-point boost. But favored soul players generally want some offensive-casting punch and hence will opt for a high WIS at the expense of CHA.
