    Default DDO Unlimited Confusion...

I am a little unclear on the whole DDO change going on right now. I used to be a subscriber and about 2-3 months ago I canceled my subscription because I couldn't get my friends to try the game even though they love D&D. So, since then I have removed the client from my PC and wanted to now download and try the new DDO Unlimited. I am not really sure where to get this new client as it appears there is a beta client available and also client mod8... It's my understanding that the new client is mod9? Where does one get this, do I have to D/L Mod8 and go through an update/patch to get mod9?

Also, on my Turbine account page it says I have a premium DDO subscription, there isn't a link to cancel and it doesn't appear to have been charging my card... But I do have a link to get "unlimited access" which takes me to input my CC info. I don't want to do anything until I check out this supposed free content and new client with my friends to see if I can get them hooked.

Download the current game (pre Mod 9), then patch Mod 9 when it is available. Do nothing with your account until Mod 9 goes live where you will then have a chance to change the account options to ftp.

Ok thanks, I just didn't want to D/L mod8 wasting that time if I didn't have to.

It's not a waste, it saves you time. It means you only have to download the 400 meg patch instead of the whole multi-gig game when the servers come back up.

And the lag of everyone else DL their patches at the same time as well.

"Premium" is one of the two types of Free to play account. "VIP" is the pay for play account. Premium free to play accounts are for former subscribers. You get 4 free character slots instead of 2 and you do not have the chat, mail, and gold restrictions that a basic free to play player will have.

    I'm also a little confused.

I paid to play about a year or so ago.

I've been keeping my client up to date as I do play every now and then when the game is free on certain weekends and such.

So do I have download a new client? Or can I just patch the one I already have installed?

Also what does the High Def version give me? Is it just resolutions?

    Patch the one you have.

    High def is better graphics.

    You can patch it up.
You get very high resolution textures in the high-resolution client. They are significantly better than the high resolution textures from the standard client.

Actually, as of right now... you can download the entire DDO Unlimited (up to Mod 9) Client.

    Thanks!

I believe I was already set at very high, so I'll be set.

I'm already at mod 8 or what was current last week. So I'll just patch it.
