    Question questions and thought

My Human Pure Paladin, Phlor Ironwood, is my first toon I created and have loads of fun with him but I know he is slightly gimped when comparing with other melee's.

During creation, I wasn't aware of the need to have high UMD/Intimidate/haggle/Jump/Balance/Swim. I would usually select any of those skills as a side note because heal and diplomacy were "class" skills and I felt at the time, why would I pour more points in a cross class skill, read=expense versus reward.

I feel I contribute to a quest/raid and am a competent player but I won't be winning any kill count or damage awards.

So my question and thought is, I really can't see myself choosing any of the new prestige feats when Mod-9 is released. IE Hunter of the Dead, Defender of Siberys or the Knight of the Chalice.

I think I will take the next Divine Sacrifice 3 and maybe try to get some ranks to select Redemption 3 but the new prestige feats aren't really attractive.

Anyone else thinking the same thing or am I in the minority?

For an AP starved class like paladin, the steep AP requirements for the prestige enhancements lead to some tough choices. Knight of the Chalice seems the default no-brainer, but only because we spend so much of the current end game fighting evil outsiders. If that changes over the next few mods (in the Dreaming Dark we're supposedly fighting people's nightmares?) then the emphasis on KotC will go down.

My paladin is highly defensive specced, so defender of sibrys fits right in, but it's going to hurt to lose a useful enhancement line to free up the AP.

It really depends on how you prefer to play the game.

Some people will ask "What is the best build"

My answer is usually, "The build that properly displays and amplifies your play style"

UMD and Intimidate aren't required of a paladin.

I prefer to have them both on my Palidans. UMD because I want to be able to teleport, buff, heal, raise, etc. Intimidate so I can save the clerics, casters or players who are about to die.

The Prestige Classes give Palis a great opportunity to compound upon a new system that will specialize the class more. I realized my original Paladins, Assio and Anderfas wouldn't be able to fully take part in those prestige classes so I re-rolled 2 new Paladins, Azzio(an offensive) and Saturday(a defensive). They seem to fit their more specialized roles much better now.

Personally I dont know many people who still play their original characters. I'm kinda impressed that you've stuck with Phlor this long. I'm only suggesting a reroll if you want to play a palidan differently than you play him now.

Otherwise it sounds like you're looking for approval on staying with a build you already like. If you like it, stay with it =)

I agree with your answer. I really enjoy playing or being Phlor Ironwood. I see him as an extension of myself, if that makes any sense. I have rolled up other toons but I always go back to Phlor because I still feel I haven't hit the glass ceiling with him. I have so much to accomplish with him IE Max Favor, Pull a bloodstone, Pull other raid loot, etc.

I believe once I hit the glass ceiling or become bored with him, I will roll up another alt and retire Phlor but until then, I will continue to try to improve him as much as I can. When Turbine allows us to respec our skills, I think Phlor will be a better equipped.

I was just quizzing the Paladin Threads to see if anyone else was NOT going to select either of the prestige feats.
