So I was in a shroud earlier with my ranger who has 1 level of rogue. When we get to part 3 of the shroud we end up with one guy who was new to the quest and couldn't do his puzzle. The leader thought that the 1 level of rogue I took would be to get the door, which is not the reason I took the level of rogue, it was for UMD only. So when the wall comes up and we break the crystal everyone is understandably upset, and I assume full responsibility.

So in comes part 4 and one of the clerics starts touting how awesome his rangers are and they can kill everyone in the group and pick locks, then teleport everyone to the tavern. He just keeps going on and on about how the party lacks dps, has no skills and tells me he would be happy to fix all of my characters flaws. The funny thing about his tells is he was round 1 cleric and blew through all 1590 of his mana before the blades were even halfway in, then he started yelling for the other cleric to take over, all the while just standing there typing me pm's. Normally I wouldn't post this kind of stuff here, but this guy was enough of an a hole that I figured I would do a public service and offer his name up to anyone who wants it, in private messages.

So go ahead send me a pm, or flame me and tell me I am a gimp don't really care tbh.

I, Phlor Ironwood, had the star and take full responsibilty for the lack of proper group dynamics and configuration. I should have asked people who I selected to join my Shroud group if they had the skills the group needed.

I had two Sorc's in the group and never asked if they had knock and we had three other ranger types that I ASSUMED had lock pick. I also ASSUMED you had lock pick, which you did not.

That put an unfair spotlight on you. Besides one of the aforementioned Sorc's was a new player in the Shroud, IE second run AND did not have Voice Chat.

Don't get me started on those who don't have Voice Chat.

Thus, don't beat yourself up over someone else. Just put him on your do not play list and move on.

Mean while, I will continue to beat myself up.

one point in open lock can get you to open almost any lock why not put it in?

While Many locks required more than 1 Rank inthe skill, the shroud locks are pretty simple.. Mid 30's DC. 1 Rank can indeed get you there..

5 Dex Bonus (Even a STR Based ranger is gonnah ev at least a 20 Dex)

Thats around a 50% success rate...

Its also pretty easy to talk someone through the puzzle.

I haven't done any studies on it, but I'm guessing a 28 will get you far better than a 50% success rate, personally.

Just an FYI...

With just ONE skill point in Open Lock, and a +15 Open Lock item and decent Dex, you can open most locks in the game...

So next time you level, get 1 point of Open Lock... Very small investment, for a fairly useful skill.

I was the one she is trashing, and I asked in party "which maybe wasnt a good idea" why in the world would you take a lvl of rogue for if not the thief ability set, at which time i was told UMD, and that i wasnt owed an explanation....true im not, but i did point out that my ranger who is an almost "class" identical build, and has a umd of 44 and can get a 50ish pick and disable, was merely trying to explain that you can have both, at which time i was not told my build was gimp but was told that my build was "laughable" and at that point i simply challenged her "perfect build" to a pvp challenge, and I stated that if she could beat me I would, and I will come right here on the forums and exclaim her greatness and my shortcomings, I stated that I could beat her and still pick all those locks abd disable all those traps. Now there is a lot of tells in between all this and my intentions were to hinestly help with advice as some of you have done, and I apologized several times, and perhaps i could have stated things differently, but my intentions were to help as I was only met with a split tongue and a nasty bite. Anyway since she wont listen to me perhaps she will spalsh a point and not be quite so useless on future raids.

thats a 36 + a d20 roll thats most loks in the game.

Whats really sad is that my dex based ranger just put ranks in open lock and disable at first level of rogue --I can not only open locks in shroud without an item. I can disable traps in VOD on Normal--4 ranks plus items does it--+15 disable + 6 Int, +4 skill boost and ventilated bracers which I don't always use. Never tried harder than normal though

The fact that this guy could blow through all of his spellpoints while typing you tells, is very impressive IMHO.

I never said party lacked dps I said you did. remember that was part of the pvp thing...i said u couldnt pick locks well, disable well, of dps well either, didnt say that about party dps only u hon. And of course....you arent willing to back up all that talk u gave me about how my character is inferior, however the challenge stands, ill even let u pick the weapons, melee or ranged, stat dam or dps weapons...get back to me I will make time for ya

I will make it real simple for you all, I will likely never ever take open lock, disable device on my ranger. Why I don't want to have it on her. I have no need to explain why, keep flaming all you want. As far as you are concerned soupertc we have never ever been in the same group before so your knowledge of me is flawed or a lie.

Also as far as the person who was in this group is concerned, do you really want me to post our conversation on the forums. Not only did I have to squelch your cleric but I had to squelch your other characters too cause you wouldn't stop logging other characters on and sending me tells. And as far as you blowing through 1590 mana in 15 secs, that doesn't make him a heal god, it makes him a poor choice of a cleric in your group. Any half wit can use all their mana in 15 secs it takes a good cleric to keep mana and people up.

As far as my DPS is concerned it is higher than probably 95% of people on the server, the reason why I never came to pvp with you is I have no need to show the size of my epeen like you do. When someone acts as childish as you do nothing is gonna prove them wrong, case and point sergod. I beat him in pvp and he never shut up, just kept bugging the **** out of me. Not only that but after I beat him he called his entire guild to pvp to gank me, and even then I killed 2 of them before I died. So if you want to keep acting like a child do it, I have alreaqdy handed your name and alts names out to people who have said they have had similar experiences with you, and you are already on their DNG list.

Hillaorous way to stretch a lie, I logged my ranger and sent you a tell in hopes you would actually back up that trash talk that big mouth was spallting in pm's, that is the only character i logged in and sent a tell with, if i logged more than that I HIGHLY suggest you make a report of harassment with an in game GM and let them look at the messaging between us and if what you say is true then im sure you have a good and solid harassment report, and I would be due some form of punishment.....so go ahead and do that ill await my punishment for harassment LOL

Please explain why. It has been explained that just a single rank can be extremely useful at end game.

You're in the top 5% of ALL melee for DPS? How do you know that?
