Free Feat Exchange

In game got a, Banner stating "you are entitled to a free feat exchange", not sure how to do this. Visited the rogue trainer and nothing there. Anybody know what this means and how to activate this free exchange?

What do you need to do to qualify for the free feat exchange?

Go to house Jorasco. In the northern lobe of the house, there is a hanging garden with a path (and quest) underneath. Next to the quest entrance (quest is dead predators, forget what the entrance is called, dead halls maybe) is a mindflayer named Fred.

Why fred? Fred was the name of the first human he ate. Err I mean met.

Talk to fred to perform your feat exchange. Be aware that you only get one free exchange, and you cannot perform another exchange for 3 days. It doesnt expire, so save it till you need it. My rogue star has had that on logon for like a year.

There is a solo quest in the harbor in the area close to the mailbox. Can't remember her name tho. But the quest is just a test of your knowledge of Stormreach. There are books inside you can read to find the answers. Completing this quest get you a little gold and a free feat exchange.

To change feats w/o the free exchange you need a dragon shard and some money. The level you are will determine which shard you need and how much it will cost.

Since the free feat exchange is a quest reward, I assume you can get one free feat exchange per character as opposed to per account?

Let me also add, that the cost to exchange a feat a low levels is pretty low, while the cost to change a feat at high levels is very very steep (and getting steeper). So I would recommend that if you can afford the low level cost, that you do so, and save the exchange for later when the cost is a LOT more.

There is no limit on which feat you can switch in for the free exchange. It mentions the dragonmarks because you need to complete this quest to unlock them on your account so that characters that have access to one can learn them (human, elf, dwarf, halfling only), but you can use the feat exchange for ANY available feat. This includes a ranger favored enemy, rogue special feat, wizard bonus metamagic, etc.

Some very good help, thank-you to all who contributed. It would seem this is a move that should be carefully considered. Probably cash this in when i reach a critical point in the development of my character and have a solid idea of the build I want. Currently level 3 human rogue but will probably go into the ranger class next level.

still relevant in 2023.
update info to make it clear: free resepc quest is in the Marketplace right next to auctioneer guy. its called "Hall of the Mark".
it asks your some lore questions, the answers are on the wiki. takes 2 minutes to do with looking everything up.
You then talk to Fred (house J under the gardens), and the window will auto use the free feat respec token/feat - and poof, part of your brain is eaten by fred and you learn something else.
NOTE: some feat respecs can cause enhancement tree to be reset. (Tiefling and possibly others) - not a big deal, but just worth noting for 100% accuracy.

if you dont need or want the feat at low levels dont do the quest until you do or every time you log it will display the free feat banner until you use it with fred.
